I picked up SiN for $3 in a bargain bin. It's a bloody awesome no-nonsense shooter. However I'm here to talk about the mapping quality. Which is fantastic. Where as City 17 was a bleak, empty place, Freeport is a live city. Some of the environments were jaw dropping. Colorful and detailed.

This skybox, however, blew me away:

It goes right round a skyscraper level. The still picture doesn't do it justice.

I know this style doesn't really relate directly to Empires mapping. Empires maps are multiplayer warzones, not detailed singleplayer stuff. It is still inspiring though. I was just thinking about what a cool skybox could add to a Empires map I've been toying with since playing Mass Effect and now I have to go look into how to make 3D skyboxes!

It's a series of cards isn't it? de_nuke uses one, as does episode 2.

Yeah, episode 2 has about 3-4 models of actual skybox, the rest is 2D. But looks awesome.

In the future, keyboards are kept only for legacy support since Windows 3000 brings commands directly from your brain!

*WARNING: May cause unexpected 'typing' on blank surfaces.
