dont know if its been suggested yet, but here it goes.

Grenades, we love em. However we would want a little bit more kick out an an grenade right ? So what if we could throw an grenade inside the enemy rax filled with enemy's, hear an exploding sound and hear the enemy screaming and burning ? Exactly....epic win.

    Plz discuss.

    EDIT: oops, noob mistake :P

I don't think it would be fun to spawn in and die in a fire.

If you just make it set everyone on fire upon exploding, why not just use a normal grenade?

    Why is it needed?

It isnt needed, but can come in handy if you throw a nade at someone but he takes the hit like a man and goes on. It could work just like the bio warhead does with its dmg over time.

I can't see it adding much to empires to be honest, I mean the bio damage as far as I know is to balance the actual weapon because if you get hit by lots of them it doesn't stack, so the first hit does more damage. But unless you're planning to spam someone with ten of these grenades I don't see the need for it.

    Spawn protection... :P

Also, I don't like weapons that can kill a dozen of enemies with one shot, but are wasted against a single enemy...

Their use is very limited, and it negates the advantage another team has when attacking in groups, which we would actually want to promote with squads... D:

Because your first post says you promote throwing grenades into barracks.

This idea is bad, but it brought up a new thought in my head, certain research gives your team new nades [as a side effect, instead of an individual 'Grenade' research]

Bio gives you a bio nade, does about 50 damage over time. Not too good but it can soften a group up. It's also nice vs tank armor. You get this with the biological weapons research item, not the MG or ML. This is a scout nade.

Physics gives a shrapnel grenade, essentially a weaker HE Grenade with a larger splash. This is a Grenadier nade.

Electric gives a contact grenade, it's a HE grenade that explodes when it hits something. Grenadier nade. Comes with something to do with MLs methinks

    Mechanical gives no grenade

Chemistry gives you better grenade damage and splash [with the advanced grenades research]

So passive team benefits no matter what tree you choose [nobody just goes mechanical, that's suicide.]

I didnt. I just made an example.

Give the contact grenade to mechanical and electric adds a timer system to the nades that lets you prime them better.
Like some kind of click that gets faster the nearer it is to detonation...

Electric should give the team nades that can discharge a vehicle, disabling them over time. But then it would out do the scout's own grenades rite?

How about a molotov cocktail type of grenade which sets fire to something and burns for a small period of time hurting anyone who ventures into the fire?

The reason I don't like this, it can be abused/spammed.

We have grenade spamming in the game already, if we suggest something like this, the whole battle ground will be on fire.

Laaaaaag. My pc just froze! My videocard overheated! Weird symbols on my screen!
That's what you'll see on the forums when you have incendiary grenades.

But can we discuss my idea of passively researched grenades?

you can't say something's going to lag until you've added it. just because something looks pretty, doesn't mean it's costly on performance. especially since we're moving to the new soft partical engine.

Hmm, Plasmic Grenades? you'd have to go far in one of the research to get them, and they are like sticky grenades but flies farther. Bah... Its a rip of halo by then...

There was some code written for incendiary grenades but I didn't read it.
