make a sprite like the ammo symbol that pops over peoples' heads when they go but have it look different, and float above engineer ammo crates. it should be visible through walls but not obtrusive, like the revive icon for engineers over dead players. the reasons for this are obvious, but if you're dense just ask.
This is a good idea. Not sure how we'd handle pre-placed map ammoboxes though. I'd rather you didn't have permanent indicators on those. So probably just engineer placed ones.
It could be just like the HUD mine indicator where it like fades in or something, except from a farther distance.
