    So, I don't know what happened but my computer has been weird lately. All problems are far off but started appearing at the same time, they are;

    - Any setup file (.exe) and general game updaters stopped working, they are unable to proceed with their bussiness at all, disabling me from installing games in many, many cases, but not .exe updating like Empires.
    - Windows Media Player generally adds a file to the playlist if you double-click it. But if there's already one in the list, it just adds it- not plays. This somehow changed too. Possibly related.
    - When trying to delete a quicklaunch item from my toolbar, it sometimes takes up to 2 minutes before the menu list appears when right clicking it.

    There are more, but I can't think of them all right now. To top it off, Hijackthis can't find any programs running that shouldn't be.

    So, can the Empires community help me?

    Most of the time it's not worth the hassle to be honest.

    Usually delorting your windows install (NOT A FORMAT, just deleting the windows directory) and re-installing windows can "fix" it. Also, back up your desktop/documents somewhere, and delete the "Documents and Settings" folder (and if you know what all's stored there, save what you still need/want).

    You don't need to format, you just need to kill whatever is in the registry or hacked into some Winblows DLL and is loading itself.

    The WORST CASE scenario is that whatever is going on made it into the MBR/first boot sector/whateverthemuckitymuck and can't be removed short of an actual format.

    But chances are, re-installing Windows (NO FORMAT REQUIRED, why the HELL does everyone assume a format's required?!) can fix the problem.

    Just remember to look into anti-virus software (speak to me privately via e-mail if you need guidance...)

    I think the Windows Media Player thing is some sort of settings thing I can't find.

    I'm going to get my second CD/DVD-R out of my other PC, but I'm too busy procrastinating.

    No, not since the post-nuclear Bush war. Most people are still stuck with 3.0, they laughed at me when I swallowed my x64 CD.

    Don't forget to mention how I've got the last 56k modem on Earth.

    The fastest modem left! I'm an ISP!
