Hey, just joined the forums, and I wanted to say this is a pretty cool game, and I can't wait for this game to leave the beta stage. I think RTS/FPS games should be more fully explored.
They've been being explored since around 1998, it's pretty sad they haven't gotten farther. Enjoy the forums, and enjoy the game. I'm sure the other crazies will be along shortly to scare you away.
Well I think the combination of RTS and FPS is a marriage without a pre-nup. I really think theyre bound at the knee now. No other genre is going to touch it except RPGs and even then only a select few companies like Konami would even try. I think over the next few years youre going to see a lot more hybrid genres combining two or more genres together in one game and of those I think the RTS/FPS hybrid is going to be on top. After playing a game like Empires could you even go back to the hack-and-slash FPS' of the past? I know I would find it quite difficult. Here's to hoping Krenzo goes commercial someday without going to EA or something like that. That would be very bad. Krenzo + Konami = Konami FPS Division? Maybe someday
Well, there is one rpg-ish RTS, Earth 2160, I've played the demo. It was a good game,great graphics,and the best thing is, your units leveled up after killing multiple units.You could also exchange their weapons with alien/better weapons. Sadly there isn't a mod team that could conceive of making it an FPS. I hope this post doesn't male me look stupid.

Backup... Well if there are no official RTS-FPS coming out, we can still count on Empires and other Mods to help further this genre.
Are you talking about the Noob's guide to Empires? I was looking at that a couple of days ago, almost bumped it cause it was so awesome.

Hello I'm a noob as well, just downloaded the beta an hour ago. The first game I joined was alot of fun but after the map changed I was stuck in the unassigned screen and didn't see an option to assign myself like when I first joined the server. This happened on both of the servers. Am I just missing something blatantly obvious or do the commanders have to assign you before you can play ? Anyways I really like the concept, this is a very cool mod.
