HELP me with installing,

If you havent got the Source SDK installed should you install it first to be able to run mods like Empires and Age of Chivelary? Because for some reaosn my Mod doesnt work and I looked at my steam acount and it clearly says that the SDK stuff is not installed.

 

To play Empires you MUST have source SDK BASE installed

 

you need to install it to your SourceMods directory, and you must have Source SDK installed. Also, make sure you restart steam to update the game list.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Open Steam
2. Go to the Tools tab
3. Right click on Source SDK
4. Click install
5. Follow the steps in the wizard
6. Right click on Source SDK Base
7. Click install
8. Follow the steps in the wizard
9. Wait until both Source SDK and Source SDK Base are both fully downloaded and installed
10. Right click on Source SDK
11. Click Launch Game
12. Once it loads, close it
13. Right click on Source SDK Base
14. Click Launch Game
15. Once it loads, close it
16. Go here and follow the steps on that page.
17. Enjoy

 

You absolutely do NOT need the SDK ONLY the "SDK Base" ..
Also you do NOT need to start the SDK Base..


so it should be:

1. Open Steam
2. Go to the Tools tab
3. Right click on Source SDK Base
4. Click install
5. Follow the steps in the wizard
6. wait for it to complete the download AND install
7. Close Steam
8. Install Empires 2.1 Full Install AND 2.12 patch (both client versions!)
9. start up steam again
10. and enjoy

 

I know that I have both and it works. I guess you don't need both.
