i got a mic headset thingy and it doesn't work I tried like 30 minutes of googling and shit to try and fix it but no At one point it would transmit whatever I was hearing (some guy talking shit through steam and he heard him self) Its not muted or no shit, i don't know what kind of headset it is and I got a sound blaster audigy 2 sound card I guess HELP ME SO I CAN GIVE EVERYONE LAUGHTER THROUGH MY DRUNKENESS
Huh. I hear that problem a lot, and I'm not sure what causes it. You've fiddled around with the audio device stuff in the control panel, right?
Not all cards/headset use the same color scheme unfortunately, although usually mics are pink nowadays. I actually don't know how to fix the speaker-into-mic problem, although I've had it happen to several of my friends. Check drivers?
I don't know if this matters, but make sure all other sound devices are unplugged and check if your comp can actually "feel" (in lack of better vocabulary) the headset, look in control panel > sound and audio devices or something. Ya.
Mute one of the microphone controls on your mixer. There are 2, I think...one takes in sound from around you, and feeds that in all the time. You can tell if it's doing that if you blurb into the mic without trying to transmit anything. If you can hear yourself, that one's on and can be muted. - There's a little red arrow above some controls if you're using the SB software mixer, might be under one of those.
Go into the control panel in Windows, go to audio (what OS are you on?) and set the default recording device. If you're on Win7 or Vista I can post screenshots. The problem is that Creative defaults your recording device to "What U Hear" - meaning you record what you hear in your speakers/headphones - and when you transmit that in game you get an infinite loop (feedback). You can also do this in the Creative mixer panel (set the recording device to your mic.)
Yeh, to fix that, you gotta get the Creative "console", set it to game mode, and mute mic output. Really gay. But I was the aformentioned guy who he tried it on steam with, so I can give you this info. He has a creative audigy. He's on XP.
Yeah this And I tried all the shit I found to do off google Reinstalled drivers, yes its plugged in right. no its not muted
Does your computer have 2 audio jacks? Some cases come with a front jack, and some MOBO's come with a back audio jack. If none of the advice in this thread helps, you just fail.
