So yeah, I like quoting people. Basically give the option (or make it requires) to have a map be specified as a Commander map, a flag-capture map, a joke map, whatever. I think there are several ways to do this, but basically I think it should be done.

Just call 'em emp_randomname_ctf, emp_randomname (conquest) emp_randomname_inf emp_randomname_lulz like it's done in all games.

It's actually done with prefixes to make it immediately obvious as to what kind of map it is, e.g. de_dust2, cs_office, or gg_aim_shotty.

You'd need a special 'John Shandy' category.

    categories proposed:

    -with 2 Cv's --> Classic
    examples: valley

-with consequent flags and no cv nor vehicles --> Infantry Conquest
    examples: District
-with consequent flags and no cv but with vehicles --> Mixed Conquest
    examples: glycencity

-with random flags, no resnodes --> Domination

any other, or anaesthetically moronic --> Funmap

Don't mess with prefixes. With the new loading screen stuff we can just define some value in the map config file.

That would be preferable because you could easily just modify any and all existing map config files without requiring any recompiles or filename changes.

Messing with prefixes means you also need to change the names of a few other files that are linked to the map name.

There are at least a dozen places for each map that would have to be changed.

File names for everything (.bsp, .vmf, .vtf, .res, .cfg) as well as the names used in said files, save the .bsp and .vmf.

though I'm sure i'm missing one or two.

In which way will we recognize of which type a map is when you define a value in the config? Will this informatin show up in the server browser?

I suggest to call any infantry only map without commander conquest (cq - district, eastborough), whilst calling the same type with vehicles added vehicle conquest (vcq - shadows, vehicletraining), any map with defend/attack setup an assault (ass [yes, like butt] - escort, cant think of other) and every map with a commander a classic map (emp)

We could add the maptype to the server tags maybe, not sure. I haven't played around with that.

    Generally better than classic.

Certainly not classic though, the cv killing flag mechanic is a major focus of the game, it doesn't play like classic unless both teams are fighting a long way from the flags.
