I know most people who do play this game just want an all out war between 2 teams with no other complications...just I thought it would be neat for these to be put in: Capture the Flag: Yes capture the flag, each team has a flag in there base(or somewhere on the map) that must be captured and returned VIP: Very important person, which would mean 1 person on a team(who cannot be commander) will be buffed in health, I thought it would be nice to have atleast 100% more health than a normal troop, buffed in gear and skills, they can use a variety of weapons or even possibly get infinite ammo for everyclass. So the point is to kill the VIP to win! But its up to u how to use the VIP, you can guard the VIP by sticking him somewhere or use his skills to kill the other VIP. Assualt: This one I think would be the best to be made. 1 Team gets a base that conisists of walls and turrets and everything else you would want so you can defend plus a commander that can only build specific buildings like turrets/walls/barracks whatever u think they would need. Though the defense team cannot leave there base(or get near the base attacking them). The team attacking would get a normal setup a comm an area to build and ref. The team attacking job is to destroy a target inside the defending teams base in a matter time or just to destroy the defending base in a matter of time. Those mod could spark alot of different maps such as the WW2 Omaha beach setup. Capture and Hold: If any of you have played company of heroes or any of the battlefield series they have it where you must capture an area or building and hold it, as you hold the area or building the enemies tickets deplete. To add some more fun to the mode you could have 2 or 3 capture points or more on a map. Excessive: Excessive would be what I would call...a all out war. Everything would be increased dramaticly. Troops health, Rate of fire, Speed, Damage, Ability to jump higher. Vehicles speed also would be increases, there damage would be increased, armour would be increased. Research would be faster, ability to build and repair faster, buildings would have more health. Engineer's limits on building walls and turrets would be increased. Morters have a bigger splash damage. Artilery can be called in much faster and more often and more.... Racing: In racing thats all you basically do is race. Each team would get a VF(with no weapons available). All members would get a chance to buy a vehicle that they think would be the fastest to run through a course of jumps flips and all that stuff. A countdown would happen until the gate opens for the teams to start. This game is basically its own. Its a mod that has its own name, its just using the half life 2 engine. Why not make it even bigger by adding modes in like UT2004, which was a huge game for its variety of game modes. I like this game for what it is right now but I just thought it would be cool to add suggestions
I would like the Omaha beach thing, thats really cool... The rest are already in in one way or another...
you know what im usally agianst the idea of some of these game modes(like ctf) but i think it would be 10 times more fun with empires then any other game
At least half of these can already be done one way or another just using the HL2 entities. The problem is getting someone to make the map and put forth the effort. There's always a vocal group against adding more game modes since it detracts from the main game mode, and adding more official game modes splits the user base. However, if you want to make a map with such a game mode, be my guest Snoopie22.
That's me Why change what makes the mod great? Those other "gametypes" already exist in other games, but empires is one of a kind.
What about making VIP a Very Important Vehicle? Say, a modified command vehicle with guns players can enter, and they must guide it through an escortesque map, both teams get tanks and an infinite vehicle factory and a steady money flow?
I kind of like the "ViV" idea, otherwise known as "escort". Imagine emp_escort (emp_cdr_escort, anyone? :p) but with a BE CV that needs to reach the final flag to win.
I wonder, maybe it should get a whole lot more armor than a regular one, but be unrepairable. Maybe a few tanks randomly spawning at the last NF flag, and instead of a BE vehicle factory random non-nuke and non-artillery tanks could just spawn for them too.
If you can convince Krenzo to make vehicle entities for use in maps, go ahead, but i tried over a year ago.
Yes, I thought it would be hard, but then I thought about you being able to respawn ammo on HLDM maps, right? Or is that something wholely different?
Vehicles in Empires are made by sending a load of inputs and using it to create an emp_vehicle entity, it's impossible to create vehicles like that in hammer.
What about that totally awesome game mode idea we had a while ago... a big free range map, in a city or something, where each team starts with one APC instead of a CV.... come to think about it, all we need is the ability to spawn APC's instead of CVs into a map, and that game mode is done!
do you realize TFC defined class-based multiplayer shooters? it was the first class-based shooter to balance all the classes, and to work. and it used 9 classes. personally, i'd love for empires in a sense to be another TFC because that emans its still empires, but + mass success
