hello - this has probably been discussed in places (i've seen it mentioned) but i couldnt find a thread on it - sorry if there is one.

I get the feeling the developer people dont want friendly fire in - but is there a reason why not to have it as an option?

you nasty people kept mentioning ns so i had to download it again and spend too much time playing and even on there ff works quite well (mostly) and thats with bitey aliens...

well , you can always use a grenade or a grenaders msl to attack your fello team if you realy want to.
eh - whats the point ? - in wanting to kill your own team , well i can understand it if its for killing idiots

There are already enough jerks out there that find ways to screw their teams with exploits and what not, friely fire will just be complete bull.
Imagine- someone saying up for a tank, a few people come by and get a jeep. You can guess the rest.

But for the 9th mine bomb's ablity to has a tad bit of Friendly fire, leave it in there. It's great for Creators or when someone goes against a full server agreement not to use Arty on Escort, a rouge Nadir needs that to step in and take matters into his own hands.

i think ff would just make the game annoying with all the explosive stuff being used. if anything you would have to have like 5% of the damage accually go to the player getting shot and have some of the rest be mirror damage.

well the point I suppose I thought it would have is that you'd need to actually care whether or not you'll hit your own side when you're using arty etc. I dont see how mirror damage would make sense (apart from being an anti annoying ff people thing)

if it is an option already then thats quite jolly (in my view)

people being silly and trying to suicide the team or annoy people is a reason to make it not the default, or maybe not use it while there arent may players (as the chances of getting enough people on a server without someone being a muppet isnt too good atm) but I dont see why that sort of fear should stop it being included. After all, if someone wants to ruin the game they can hop inthe comm chair and drive it into the sea - that doesnt mean the comm chair should lose its wheels.

my thought was that ff might make people think/care more about what they shoot - rather than be a needed way to remove people on your team (eg arty tanks on escort). you may all be odd foreign people (no offence) but just because something moves doesnt mean you have to shoot it...

10 games that end in 30 seconds is something completly different to every game where some idiot in his arty keeps killing your tank a few times every round

I want it: it could be tactical.

sure, if you destroyed your CV it would be an insta-ban
and killing teammates would be punished (-2 to scores and permaneant loss of use of vehicles for remaining duration of map if they killed more than 3 teammates.)

how about a more complex punishment system (because complex is good), to actually be a deterrent to people and allow accidents to be forgiven - on a friendlyfire kill a dialog box pops up allowing the firee to forgive the firer or to lodge a complaint with high command (or maybe even the commander if there is one) - if they complain then the firer is demoted (not sure what would happen if they hadnt got a rank yet, maybe push abilities further beyond reach or do private sandbag's no vehicle rule - harsh (if you like tanks) but if you cant not kill your own team do you deserve to drive?). letting the complaint go to the comm would give more control to the comm on who to punish but be odd if there was no comm at the time.

letting people forgive would be a good thing if it was actually the firee's fault (eg driving a jeep in front of someone shooting a rocket or somesuch foolery). not all mistakes should be forgiven (to discourage them) but i think if a name came up regularly as a team killer then the forgiveness would wear thin rather quickly.

private sandbag's ideas were better than i thoguht on retrospect - tho maybe up it to -5 score or something (as that would be more like the demotion idea i wanted :))

I say no to friendly fire.
What benefit, apart from a small amount of realism, will it give to the game?
    Hmm..

Except whenever this happens the person usually selects punish anyway. I've seen it used (in bf2) to get someone kicked from a server by lodging too many tk complaints.

After getting shot by own tank for several minutes today, despite my attempts at telling the guy in the tank that I'm a friendly. I say no to friendly fire. The distances are too damn large at times(and most people seem to ignore the minimap when it comes down to shooting something).

I dont think the punish/forgive thing would work either.. two wrongs dont make a right.. how true! It just means you both die = team loses tickets anyway.

    It worked in counterstrike.

beside realism it would also add more tactics to the game, for instance, you could arrange the artilliary to do a barrage of attack and then make the men charge. If this was to be implemented, you could double the effectiveness of Arty vs MG turrets, as it would encorage this type of teamplay.

how the hell would ff encourage teamwork?

plus, i dunno about you guys, but sometimes nametags don't always appear near teammates. i notice this from time to time when i'm in vehicles.

there already is ff kinda. the tank bug (your own shots should hurt you but not allies, but it hurts allies only), the mine trick (and ppl being near enemy bob when enemy bob steps on mine), and what i abolutly hate: im morting something and somoene steps right infront of me and my morter blows up in my face (mabey not friendly fire, but it still sucks)
