    Well, this post isn't all about FF but also about the Empires servers, as it seems I am the only one who would like to see FF in Empires.

    First of all, it is strange that there are only few Empires servers with VAC running. Seems it is hard to get VAC running on a Empires server.
    But since all other Source based Games are running mostly with VAC it must be a problem with Empires.

    Now to FF.
    There should be options in the server to config the FF.
    Something like this:
    Do enemies get squashed by vehicles?
    Do teammates get squashed by vehicles?
    Do teammates get damaged by own artillary?
    Do teammates get damaged by grenades?
    Can you damage yourself?
    Is all other kind of FF enabled?

    Ive always been a strong supporter of FF servers especially in CSS noAWP/noAuto servers. FF really puts realism into the game as well as promoting skill and the ability to config FF would greatly reduce the chance that FF is abused by noobs and/or griefers.

    there is only one kind of ff, and you always damage yourself.
    Now if you only could have made a thread about artillery damaging themselves...

    I disagree.
    You can seperate different types of FF. And there a games, where you won't be albe to hurt yourself.
    So why don't give these options to Empires?

    I can continue my list:
    Does Artillery damage itself?
    Is Artillery allowed on Emp_escort?
    Is Artillery allowed on Emp_money?
    Is Artillery allowed on all other maps?

    It would be really nice if admins can choose from these optins when setting up a server.

    I agree. Getting hit by friendly arty is going to really suck, unless there is cover aplenty to hide behind. So server options are a necessity. Right now, grenades already do damage to yourself.

    I'm a strong supporter of no exceptions in relation to FF but that's just me.

    people might be able to learn not to run into the enemy base when it is getting pounded by 3 artillery tanks.........or they might not.

    But I think it would certainly suck if one gets run over by a teammate on a map such as escort or crossroads, because there wasn't any room to get out of the way.

    In addition, in the other large, wide open maps, it would be hell for infantry because the enemy could very easily run them over. Server options are a must.

    i am all for ff, the battles will become more fun becuase the grenade spam will be slightly reduced and artillery will not be able to blast a nearby wall to defend itself.

    the arillery will also be forced to work in closer coordination with its team or it will pretty soon have no team, it means that once you get close to the enemy they cannot just shell their own team or base to get rid of you.

    of course there will be the occasional annoying kill by a teammate but in this case the benefits outweigh the losses.

    i think that being run over by a tank is a fair way to die and besides, you can dodge it. teammates wont run you over unless they are completely noob and im hoping there will also be some good server mods soon allowing forgive etc (you know what i am on about).

    maybe just reduce the amount of damage given by friendly vehicles so they would have to reverse several times in order to actually kill you but apart from that no exceptions or it just doesnt make sense. logically or gameplay wise.

    But on escort for example, the corridors can become VERY small, running over teammates is a very real possibility. Otherwise one would have a tank moving very slowly behind an infantryman, just because the tanker is afraid to run him over.

    Server options are a necessity.

    the tank driver can always tell the bloke to get out of the way. and how long could this really go on for anyway ? the infantryman is going to stop or crouch at some point and escort is really not a big map.

    if he really is being an idiot/griefer about it then run him over and he probably wont do it again/deserved it.

    if someone really is being a griefer like that they will get banned soon enough. any type of game is open to exploitation we just have to live with that. if a griefer wants to grief he will find a way. wierd ff options are not going to change that.

    So, why would having server-side FF options disrupt the game? Some people won't want FF at all, and some would prefer only limited FF. Unless it's a huge pain to code, why so adamant?

    becuase when every server has different frienedly fire options, i have to adjust my game style every time i play. and so does everyone else.

    on or off should be the most options it gives you, then a server can advertise its status and attract the gamers who prefer either status

    I think it is not to much for every admin to set all these options.
    Well, the players....okay, they have to adjust their gameplay. But I think it wouldn't be to hard either...
