Ladies and Gentlemen. Roll up roll up, to take part in the ultimate Empires challenge. Contestant takes on contestant in a one versus one tournament designed to leave us with ... the Undisputed Champion of Empires.

Ok, so I was thinking about a 1 vs 1 tournament across the whole of Empires. This thread is just to gain an understanding of how many people at the moment would be interested in such a thing. There would be 2 contests held, one rifleman tourney and one grendier tourney on District on the BSID server, so if you feel like having a go then put your name down in this topic and spread the word so I can see how many people think they have what it takes to be numero uno.

Edit: Also the particular tourney you'd like to go for would be good too. You can go for both rifleman and grenadier if you want too.

tournament... 1v1... on district... in order to find the "champion of empires" of those classes..

Well I'm debating whether to allow certain rules if both people in their 1v1 agree to it, like no nades or no camping at the ends of the main district road etc but we'll see. Also given that you'll only have one skill to work with during the match, digin hmg whore against an accuracy carbine/heavy rifle who can shoot you from a distance, yeah there's room for tactics in this.

 

1v1 doesn't prove anything.

1v1 foxy owns me on district, but lord knows I kick just as much ass as he does in a full game.

 

1v1 proves nothing, 2v2 proves teamwork, 3v3+ until 5v5 proves everything.

 

"tactics" like dig in and hmg camp in the vent/gate of the 3rd flag once you apply the no nade rule in the rifleman vs rifleman tournament?

Oh yes, i can see plenty of these type of tactics being applied all over the map...

and "no camping" doesnt work... you need a open flat grassfield for that.
Unless you make a rule that no person at any time is allowed to use either of the objects on district and is forced to 24/7 go in the open...
If there is no such thing, then it will be a tournament more based on luck if the participants are enforced to not move at snail speed/camp along the defenses... which pretty much is "hope for the enemy to be in the open while being near cover"...
and if there is no such thing as anti-camping rules, then just camp in a unusual spot and wait for the enemy to pass by... or as said before, digin HMG at tons of locations...
or hell, just grab melee and camp the close-quarter areas of the map.

summarise: 1v1 on district (or any map), proves fk all...

 

we have fun 1v1s on district all the time on the jpl server, but there are a lot of gentlemen's rules that go into making it actually fun. no health boxes, no hmg, no sewers bullshit, no helmet camping, no mines, that kind of thing. I don't know if it would work in a 1v1 tournament but if you could get a set of rules that makes sense and that everyone agrees upon then I could see it working, but until then, no.

 

1v1 district is just shoot the pixel or cat and mouse.
