Melee rarely occours because when people do start meleeing eachother it just becomes a 20 second mess, and it's far more efficient to reload your gun and just shoot it into the player. Melee doesn't have to be like this. look at halo: that game has melee included perfectly into the combat, doesn't look stupid, and plays a role. What i suggest is that melee has a larger radius, especially not a further one, but so that if you aim 60 degrees to the left of the player, you still hit them. Way way back before the dawn of time, i suggested this - http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=1352 but that's about as likely to be implemented as customisable breast sizes for your charecter.
hehe, "breast" Melee is clunky and ive only used it a couple times when I forget what team Im on, run up to the enemy to heal him, realize hes a badguy, empty my magazine into him, realize I missed every shot, then melee him to death.
Melee is good if you use the upgrade, it's very powerful if you use it while running through an enemy base.
It seems like the guy hasnt used melee very often. I get many kills with melee. Its also not supposed to be a super attack, but a last ditch effort to finish off your enemy.
I think the animation looks like someone is swinging a butterfly net gracefully through the air. It should be a lot more brutal than what it is. Maybe a nice "Whooosh" sound effect to go with it.
I have been in a 1 on 1 melee fight that lasted 3 minutes.. we both lagged around missing... I support this idea
The current animation does suck, feels like i'm swatting fly's. I'm not sure if i'm up for melee being more powerful/useful, because, I usually forget its available till I get belted over the head.
Let's add a melee attack button instead of 2nd mouse? Like in Call of Duty, where shift is used to make a 1 time deadly clap on your head.
ditto. AFAIK, Ironsights are not being added for SMGs/Pistols, and Melee isn't going to be implemented to rifles.
yes animations are weak and doesnt give you that much feeling of just when the actual attack/damage is happening. also it doesnt have its own impact sound. The one used is bullet impact and not a pistol in the face sound. I have been surpirsed a few times when people hit each other for fun and it sounds just like a long range sniper is taking shots at your squad. No boom sound but a high speed impact sound.
the dev team should change the look of the smg´s and pistols if they dont implement ironsights for them cause it feels retarded that you can see THAT DAMN IRONSIGHT on the smg and cant use it.
yeah melee animations are pretty weak, but it always feels good to sneak up on an enemy engi that's building something and just melee him to death
