Well, to reduce lags: server side: determing, what is on fire client side: draw fire. But if implemented, I want to switch that off, because my machine is to slow for fireworks...
mmm...napalm.. i dont think it would be to hard to do fire the example that comes to mind is Enemy terrtory and the soldier class that gets the flamethrower. ET has some pretty low requirments and does ok with fire.
Would be even more annoying then arty... It's cool and I like it, but I fear of what people will do with fire... >.< *shudders*
