Annoying? Or no? I personally find it kind of annoying. If I have my speakers up too loud you can hear it through most of the house. Anyone think that maybe the logo should take a seat and calm down a bit?
lol i was gonna post somthing about this too.. its funny cause i'll be mixin a track late night and then i'll unplug the head phones and forget to turn the volume down.. so i load up emp and i usally go get a beer or somthing but then remember the volume is gonna blow my speakers out.. so it becomes like a bomb i have to diffuse in time! haha it was annoying at first and then became a funny mini game that im always too stoned to remember but i was gonna ask.. im sure someone here knows.. whats that code you type in so it doesnt play the vid? i remember doing that to the valve video
I'm assuming the trains option is 'dont care' which I do not. no offense intended. it's just a non-issue with me. also cool picture, fish.
In your launch options add "-novid". It could be turned down a bit, but it's up to Broccoli if he wants to do anything.
The original one was WAY louder. The levels on the current one should be pretty consistent with what you'd get in-game. The reason it probably sounds louder is because you're moving from quiet environment. You get the same effect when you go to the cinema and see the first THX/whatever logo. Unfortunately I don't have access to the source files (or indeed an Empires install), so I can't make another one.
Have to say, it's pretty damn cool tho...was expecting just some plain splash screen the first time I loaded it up
i really like it, it's great to have. i just clicked "it's too much" because i want an option somewhere to turn it off. the 1000th time you've seen it you just wish you could get into the game faster. yes i could do -novid (i think i tried this and it didnt work a couple RC's ago... will get back to you) but the idea is that if it bothers me it's gunna bother other people that won't know the "hacky" feeling -novid trick. summary: give an option to turn it off in the options menu (if possible)
You can remove it by editing StartupVids.txt in "Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\Empires_108\media", change the name of the file and it shouldn't play on startup.
Yeah, I'm not trying to make it out as if it's a major issue or anything, I was just curious to see what other people thought (or don't think).
