    Do you get it?
    Do you find it funny?

+ i've got a general question... in America, do you have obvious sarcasm (like "naaaaaw i meant to trip over that and break my damn nose", or hinted sarcasm? (like so only the smart people in the room notice)

I've always wanted to know this... but i've only been to America once, and no one was sarcastic at all...

There's a little bit of both kinds of sarcasm.

Unfortunately there's not enough smart people to fill a room where I live. :(

Personally, I don't really care for British humor that much. If anything, some of the better stuff will make me smile a little but very little of it will bring me to tears laughing. British humor is really good to quote though. The sarcasm that you guys use is much better used out of context, i think. All through secondary school people used to quote monty python a lot but i think the whole britishness of it was more funny than the actual jokes.

I really find it hard to tell the difference between british humour from that of foreign humour to be honest.

    What constitutes as british humour?

    MONTY PYTHON!

Well, that's a group of them.

I actually watch some of the British sitcoms from the '80s that come on PBS sometimes. :D

I've seen most of Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail, and it was pretty funny. "'Tis but a flesh wound!" There, I quoted English humor. That's actually a quote that my friends and I use quite a bit.

    Brit Humour:

    Troops ready to enter iraq are listening to their commander's pep talk;

The Brittish Commander: We need to be careful here, don´t offend anyone and protect civilians. Don't shoot instantly, watch first.

Americans: Let's kick some Iranian but!

You hit the nail on the head.

Did you spot the sarcasm there?

English humour is the only kind of humour for me. I watch these cheap imported American shows on morning television, and the majority are just utter crap. Clichés, canned laughter, predictable gags, it's just not funny. Exceptions would be things like Fraser and Friends, just off the top of my head. The worst I've ever seen: Everybody Loves Raymond. I watched half an episode and nearly died.

    Futurama is good.

Mr. Bean is great, as well as jonny english (both rowan atkinson)

He Knows no fear, he knows no danger, he knows... nothing

American humour is more based on observational humour and randomness, as seen in Family Guy and Scrubs.

British humour takes a more in depth approach and uses words rather than situations to make people laugh.

Based on that one might even suggest that British humour is more intelligent. I might even go as far as to say that it's rather splendid to drink afternoon tea and have a witty conversation with the rest of the old chaps and then perhaps play some rugby afterwards. I'm sure you'll agree, now you must forgive me as it seems that my teacup is empty. I shall refill it at once.

Im a brit and Scrubs and Futerama are 100% the best shows in their genre- futurama being for animated and Scrubs being for any kind of acted comedy every to be made.

But i gotta agree: american humour can SUCK.
    -8 simple rules
    -everybody loves raymond
    -Ugly Betty
    -will and grace

    ...and loads more.

Ugly Betty was cheap rip off of Betty la fea, the original spanish version was much better in my opinion.
