Empires for Steam OS and Mac OS X

Hey All,

Hasn't the Source SDK been released for linux and OS X? That would mean empires mod would simply need to be recompiled right?


Either way, with linux and OS X the empires community would triple in size :D

We were all noobs once, but lets get these people on board

 

All versions of Linux and OS X together have less market share than Windows 8. Just to put things into a perspective.

 

good point the market share is small....

now with not so many games available on linux, steam OS and mac os x the people who do have steam on those systems will definitely download empires if it was ported. Empires would therefore gain a significant amount of new players.


Was it so bad back when empires got ported to the orange box source engine? Porting was supposed to be a lot easier with the newer versions. Has anyone looked into it?

 

It (Orangebox port) was a nightmare from what I remember.

 

Both porting and the game afterwards.

 

And the guy porting it. :D

 

Whats so nighmarish about mootard? Except the attitude that is.

 

Well if one person from each joined the emp community he'd be right about tripling...

 

We still have bugs from the Orangebox port now that I called out in testing 5 years ago. It was pretty fucking horrendous.

 

true, empires was never quite the same with the release of the orange box version.

Does valve talk out of their ass when they keep saying it is a simple recompile to port a game to the new version??

 

Proposal: get a team together to redo all the player models, vehicles, and buildings and re release the mod for Windows, OS X, Linux and Steam Machines

 

With proposals like that, you wouldn't be able to feed yourself as a consultant.
