i get an error message (look attachment) after compiling and the game doesnt start. the map itself is successfully compiled (havent tried it with rad so far), i can start it manually using console. its a common bug, i had it too when i (tried to) map for the Synergy mod. i fixed it, but i cant remember how. i think u have to change something in expert compile options. who knows how to fix this?
i never start the map after compile, i prefer to start up empires on my own, just seems faster for me. I'm sure there are some settings that are not set
Just keep the game running. The game doesn't lock the map file or anything, so you can just compile a new version on top of it and reload the map.
Solokiller, i thought u know it ... its a comfortable feature - just hit F9 and everthing is done automatically. awkward to start it everytime manually, especially if u just started mapping for empires and often run the map to try and test things. nvm, i ask google ...
What part of "it's fucked up" don't you understand? It just doesn't works properly, if it does then good luck.
get 'crafty', it'll let you see your bsp ingame. has quite a few nice features. very handy for compile checks.
i fixed the first bug, but when i run the map, it always uses the default server settings, ignoring server.cfg. default settings suck for testing (60sec comm vote time before start, etc.). how can u tell the game in this case to use your server configs and not default ones? where are the default settings located?
just leave the game on in tabbed form and compiles small parts of it at one time (cordon tool), then test those parts when they are done by open tabbing empires and typing "map<space><mapname>" in console, thats what i do
