They have to be your own sounds, created yourself. Don't just rip from another game, otherwise we can't use them.
Most of the sounds (Weapon sounds) were mostly made by me. Vehicle sounds such as the driving is made by me (Hard as hell to do). *Edit Wait use them? You mean allowing people to download em and use them for custom content and such or inserting it into the mod?
turtle i really liked your nfar, smg1, and besmg2 sounds. could you pm me with the file you had in the original post please?
Lol, i just came back to work on this an just realized something, you guys do have copyright sounds in this mod, but i shouldn't disclose what they are or i get in troubles
I won't lie, I've certainly heard a few of the sounds elsewhere, in a certain BF2 mod. But they were added long before my time so, I'm absconded of all involvement and blame.
Along with COD2, BF2 vanilla, some old game i forgot whats its name, and thats the ones i do know of ,but thats a bit out of topic. Also, you guys really consider about putting my stuff into the mod or were you just drunk one night? If so, i'll have to remove any rips from the packs...or i could just put all of my work into a single pack like usual.
Alright ladies, New update "New'ish Sounds" i hope you guys like it. Also to the devs, either those sounds you guys are using right now for the new content like planes and such are place holders...or the real deal, i suggest you either check your sources so you guys dont get shit stormed with copyrights. since i have nearly 17 sound files that are oddly familiar to you sound files. And the sound files i have are from other games. *Edit* Forget this statement, i dont want to piss on your guys work.
dr.turtle do you have them working for you in steampires? I tried and I failed, and the only custom sound that works is vlamnire's jeep sounds that came in that funny folder - http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=13528&highlight=jeep+sound.
First! you read the instructions at the bottom of my first post? Did you extract all 3 GCF empires folders into 1 source mod folder named "empires"? Did you choose the source mod empires (white cross) other than the black one on the steam library selection?
Basically extracting Empires into the SourceMod folder, it will show up as a mod again in your games list rather than the Steam Version. The "white cross" thing is wrong by the way, it does not show in the Steam List any different to Steampires apart from it doesn't show any game info or screenshots for you. From my experience today, I had to do these instructions to enable the use of my custom weapon sounds for infantry weapons. The extracting doesn't take that long but unfortunately to use custom sounds this is the only way that works what I've discovered so far...
RetroFades right, sorry. But yes, extract empires into sourcemod folder, rename folder as empires then put sounds into it.
Remember that once we do start onto an update cycle, it's going to be a hassle keeping your mod-distros up to date.
It actually won't be that much of a hassle. All you have to do is Copy your sound folder, re-extract the GCF's and then paste it back in again.
