Nearly 2 years in the making, with nearly 20 developers and community developers contributing to this release, I am proud to present you: Empires 2.4 After a traumatic week of trying to distribute this patch via Steam, everything is now working properly, with the final fix for the last 1% of users arriving at some point in the next 48 hours. Everyone else should have no issues. A partial changelog for this release can be found below. Script changes will be added in a day or 2, with extra bits and pieces being added to the changelog once we track them down through 2 years of commit history. Expect proper PR, screenshots, extended changelog and other stuff over the next few days. Thanks for your patience with the issues we've been having. I'll see you all ingame.
A little bit, but the majority of the fix was our end, I'm not sure if their stuff was necessary for our temporary fix. But their stuff will be necessary when we do a long term fix. The fix now is really a workaround that we're able to distribute to everyone via Steam.
Woohoo! Thanks for all the hard work, devs. I was fortunate enough to be able to jump on without a problem when 2.4 was released and it's been a blast. Not like I needed any help getting addicted.
Good job guys. Thanks for the hard work and all the effort. It was a a long journey but looking at those changes it seems to be worth it.
That's the fix. It launches Empires directly via SDK Base 2007. It's a temporary solution because it shouldn't really be required, though a few games do actually use this method.
Aww man, that changelog was very attractive, too bad right now I'm in another country, but once I come home I'll play again.
So is the Steam version going to be updated? Also if I want to use the Brenodi Empire and the Northern Faction in a fan fiction, who would I ask? Because I'm working on a HL2-TF2 Crossover called the Human-Combine Wars that features the Empires Universe and I've already the published the first story where I call them different names, but I want to use their actual names. It's based of a series of GMOD poses that I doGMOD Poses(None related poses in included)
