When we last left off, I was subtly improving emp_mesa.

Packing in at 10MB more than emp_mesa_b4, you get HDR and... and... HDR. Oh, sure, there are the minor graphical and performance improvements (*crosses fingers*), some bspzipped propper models, and the rare gameplay improvement, but chances are you won't notice the difference made by anything other than HDR, which, being the dutiful Empires player you are, you will have turned off.

So, for all practical purposes, this is an oversized and hopefully bug-fixed version of a map you can already play. Totally worth the bandwidth. (But, hey, at least it's released.)

Make the hills not look like Christmas puddings and the map can be official.

I hope he has a good computer and will be able to optimize that part. NOTHING IS LOST.

change the hills to a more Bratwurst-like shape and it will be the new duststorm.

I am not redoing the displacements, at least not so long as sanity is in high demand outside of Empires.
Turns out it's just the height that the screenshot was taken.
It put me above the hint brush and into a func_viscluster (everything up to the farz limit drawn). Framerates on ground level are double that.

afaik tons of visleafs are in the brushes so it would be alllloooot of work to change it

How do you know? The level could be practically empty and contain only a single visleaf. (Not that a lower amount of visleafs would mean it's better optimized).

I was a little bit tipsy when I wrote that and forgot to talk about what I actually meant. The problem with those "puddings" is that each of them has a visblock brush in it. So making more interesting mountains would mean alot of work because you cant just pull and push the polygons. Those brushes would stick out of the hills if you do that.

Whining aside we need the VMF to make this map official. We will have to maintain it in the long term which requires VMF.

Are you guys retarded? You do realise Demented has to have a vmf to be working on this, he hasn't just been editing the BSP with notepad.
