i like the basic light color, but too dark isnt good for empires ... the distances conceal enemies too well in dark settings (see omnehs laggy slaughterd version for reference)

also full moon can really be bright

mhm ... well i dont really know ...

borrealis has this nice yellowish light really improving the color of the grass - on the other hand, that sky really is fuggly.

while i like the blueish light of day_09 - the pale color gives it a bit of a clean cold feeling.

i cant tell whats better, tho empires really lacks night maps i think i still like the day version better. if not id go for the later settings (with 50 for ambient brightness)

but maybe wait for more feedback from other guys ... :D

also giev higher resolution screenies, its sooo small on my 24" ;)

could you add street lights marking the most important locations? (all the bridges, some important roads etc)

Ugh! Don't make tell me your gonna make me learn lights!?

I think I'll make it a day version and save myself the trouble >.>

PS: Should I assume everyone has Ep2? Or will I have to include that stuff in the thingy?

    hahaha

its pretty easy - place a prop_static (search for light in model browser) and put a light_spot under the light source. orientate and then tint it in the color you like - you prolly have to turn up the brightness quite a bit (i think it defaults to 200 or something) - up the inner and outer angle a bit to your liking ...

place only one of those - compile (sadly the lighting preview doesnt work with displacements) - see the outcome - adapt brightness if necessary - repeat until you like it, then copy the prop and the light around your map - done ;)

alternatively you could read through this two tuts:
    http://www.interlopers.net/tutorials/1780
    http://www.interlopers.net/tutorials/17779

    edit:
another thing you could try is to build a (larger) room out of brushes, and place your light in there (the height should be the same as the height the lightsource will be above the ground later) and then set your 3d view to lighting preview - this shoul give you a basic impression of how the light will be on your map without compiling over and over again ... or you could just test it on the bridges (as long as they aint displacements)

    @ Trickster:

Will you be cycling this one or waiting for a night version first?

    //EDIT
Download link removed: I found a small glitch, only small but yea...
PS: Seeing as no one's downloaded yet it shouldn't be a problem lol...
