So, what if we added an EMP cannon that you could put in the place where your STD Cannon usually goes. So we'd in theory have some LTs running around and zapping heavies and apcs. If this gets implemented there would need to be some kind of armor that could counter it, maybe at cost to damage protection. An EMP Cannon would do exactly what you would expect, it immobilizes vehicles. Their turrets still work, but they are immobile. Pros: LT gets a little more usage Cool particles Different strategies Cons: People will bitch Could be OP, would like to test it Yes the turret should technically be taken out with EMP too, but that might make it way OP.
A one slot plasma cannon merits further consideration. Plasma cannons, however, will still be broken.

Well if it takes up an entire cannon slot and doesn't actually do damage then you're severely weakening your own vehicle, meaning if you can't kill that foe quickly and he recovers, you're basically screwed (assuming about a 40 second reload time, it's a one time per fight thing) and it requires it's own research, I'd say it's a weapon that should be looked into.
Wow, something more annoying than a sticky stun grenade that scouts tend to use. Commanders will surely be fucked with this cannon if it is to be added which it won't for good reason.
You know we could just make commanders immune to it. That and stickystuns aren't annoying, if you get stickystunned you deserve to die.
It's annoying if you do get stickystunned, but otherwise yes it isn't annoying. Also, what if it is a very tight area and avoiding it is near impossible?
I would prefer a EMP arty cannon, but not a tank gun (you have plasma cannon for that). EMP would only turn off buildings for a few seconds; turrets (turns off) engy radar & camera (turns off) factory (can't build) repair pad (can't repair) radar (turns off radar, can't start new research) rax & armory (can't change class) ref (stops income) building that are turned off are darkened (gamma is turned down). perhaps having engy tool decreased to zero if caught in the blast....
