You know why DX10 is going to revolutionize gaming? That, my friends, is ingame footage. Yep yep, for the new game World at War. If you dont think that looks good, you are, well, an idiot. Cuz thats an RTS, fellas (and fell...women).
So? Company of heroes does the same stuff on dx9 and supreme commander I can play on 2 screens out of the box while still looking aweshenz. Anyway according to your logic every increment of directx is a revolution because things look shinier every time. While that's neat it's not a big shocker or as revolutionary since it's original inception. Even then Glide had the first. Now if it also makes me a sandwich while gaming, that would be a revolution.
pfft glide, I was very dissapointed to see that the tnt cards always had better graphics than my voodoo1 and 2, but the higher framerate made it worth it to play in fuzzy 800x600
Heh heh... Actually I think that you are an idiot for thinking that DX10 will bring some kind of an revolution in graphics(if I remember correctly it only brought in the unified shader model and a couple of new tricks, nothing too fancy). It's not about which libraries you use, it's about how you use them. It may come to you as a shock clay, but you can do all that sheit with OpenGL 2.0 and GLSL too. :p
That's just a video. The in-game graphics are terrible... Unless I'm thinking of another game with commies invading america =/ EDIT: Yes, I was. nm me
Coming from a Wii owner, your 'revolution' is simply a turning of events in which game developers continue to focus games on graphics, which rack in millions based on the WOW! factor, which all suck major ass. Wii Play Tanks will forever remain in my heart. And that sucker is in 2d. (well, 3d drawn art)
Bah, tanks is only ok, it is better the most games on Wii play, other then pool. i would rather play wii sports or ssx blur.
ftp://ftp.sierra.com/pub/sierra/worldinconflict/videos/WIC_TRL_CES_480.mov edit: this game is compatibale with DX9, but it looks way better on DX10. gameplay works like this:
This is not World at War, World at War is a mod from the creators of Firearms. Just wanted to point that out, i got all excited and then sad because of this
DX 10 is more of a streamline of the old libraries, and standarzation for hardware developers, so right now the effects of DX10 are only minor, with devs being able to use that water shader on everything and making it so shiny that i can't see. Just with a touch of a single button. The real benefit will come sevral years down the road, where the hardware will be more or less similar, so the developrs could focus on making it run better, instead of running on every single card out there. A good move by Microsoft...
No, grass looks like grass IRL, not like the skidmarks on somebody's tighty whities. If you look really close you can see little specks sitting in midair.
