As someone suggested before, maybe the Aicraft factory will produce "Crates" every so often on the side, which can be "Picked Up" by the emptied dropships...
really nice. I still really don't like the spawning idea, but fitting in with popular idea of it. I really like the design though. What if you only had to pay for one machine gun, and then it is duplicated for both sides. This is because each side only has 180 degrees of fire, so you only really get half the fire from each, and you actually need 2 people to use it properly....
Sorry about bumping this, but my brother had an idea, only let the dropship take off when it has mor than say 4 people in it, unless ofcorse there are onlt 3 on the team.
What happens if the dropship unloads the troops, and needs to TAKE THE **** OFF from right in front of the enemy base? Where, y'know, grenadiers are shooting at it from???
What if it gets spawned at the factory and, uhm, there's an enemy air raid or tank raid or infantry raid and it needs to take the **** off before it becomes a big waste of resources?
what if you don't have 4 players on your team, or you want to use the dropship without devoting 4 players. I think it's quite an unreliable and irritating system. nice idea, but people will want to use it as a taxi too.
If I remember right, Krenzo said that you're just going to walk up to the crate and press use to get in, and vehicles will have some sort of button that turns them into a crate that a dropship can then pick up. He might have decided to put the new animators on a work=food diet aswell, so maybe we'll have fancy animations after all!
You're thinking of the BF1942 version. That's where you had to turn your vehicle into a crate in order to pick it up with a dropship.
Must have been wierd ... So couldnt like veichles turn themselves into crates at any random moment... and go Solid snake style ?
Once it was a crate, it was useless. A dropship had to go near it and pick it up where they could then spawn another vehicle of the same kind from it somewhere else. It was incredibly hacked together due to the limitations.
Then how would they work in this version? Will the vehicles be bare-bones underneath the dropship and the infantry use the crate, or will the vehicle have some way of getting inside and out of the crate?
Use MAGNETS. remember how you could magnet your sandbuggy on the highway 17 part of HL2? just make the rear part of where the vehicle is picked up magnetic, and then a switch inside the cockpits of the vehicle to turn it on and off.
