I didn't realise you could do that either....is there a limit on orbital relays? Would be cool to launch a full army directly into an enemy base.

Just tried, you can put four fully reinforced and upgraded space marine squads in an orbital relay :P

Though I believe you need to actually be able to see the area you're podding in to :)

Well you can use the invisible scouts to see the area, then deep strike everyone, and teleport in your termis which are nearby.

    Only problem is vehicles.

you can just have vehicles rush in first
then drop in SM and tele Terms
    then load up dreadnaughts

thats my favorite part of SMs, the orbital relay.

is it me, or are the new races a little bit unbalanced?

I mean, Tau get krootox. nuff said about them..

but then there are the necron- and they get revive. Here's me (SM) vs Grey (Nec):

After killing his first army of 5 squads, I then had to kill his second army, then kill the first one again. then a third came along to where I'd killed the second, and he revived the second one. so I feel back to where the first one was destroyed, but he managed to revive that as well...

I ended up fighting an army of about 15 different fully made squads...

When the necrons get revived, they only start on half health, so it's easier than facing a full army, and there's nothing really to take out the superweapons of each race. A Land raider will make it very hard for necrons. As will orbital bombardment.

yus, and melee will tangle necron warriors up pretty easy

Tau is pretty unbalanced with the krootox though. That and the pure tau side of their tech tree has no superweapon at all.

And I find imperial guard fairly weak in late game.

Orks I haven't played with enough but I don't like the waagh thing so I don't play with them often.

land raiders are easy to kill as necrons. just get two full necron warrior armies killed in the same spot, then get a monolith and a full army of immortals. then revive the two old armies for firepower, and the immortals will DESTORY the land raider.

and necrons are really good in melee. they are very resilient, and there first attack makes the enemy fly back.

each race has its own strength really.

Space Marines: Good health, good versatilty
Imperial Guard: Mass troops, really good tanks, special units to attach to squads
Orks: Mass numbers, alot of strong units, melee
    Eldar: Speed, Stealth
    Chaos: Melee and Special Units
    Necron: Balance of range/melee
    Tau: Ranged

i hate Korhn Berserkers. One full squad with a full chaos marine squad killed me 4 fully upgraded SM squads.

I'm pretty sure that if necrons got caught up by full melee squads, they would die. Their main strength is in range attacks, they like to just walk through bases and obliterate stuff without stopping. They would probably survive if the opposing squad wasn't melee primary.

especially those units who can knock down enemy with melee. Like the kroot leap or knight's furious charge or even the harlequin's dance thing.

    Here's a recent scenario:

4 deadnaughts (melee edition), a full pack of assault and normal terminators, a whirlwind, a laser tank, space marine squad backup, oh, and a land raider.

ALL destroyed in less than a minute by Gray's army of 6 necron squads, and his triangle.

I tell you, when it was just the landraider and some assault teminators vs that army, their life expectantcy didn't get into the double digits. in seconds.

That's probably because you had no crowd control units. Orbital bombardment would surely allow you to take most of them down while they are struggling to get back on their feet. And the Librarians invincible spell should've rendered all of your units invunerable.

Remember to use the special abilities.

Not to mention the land raider's invincibility thing.

Scouts fully equipped with sniper rifles will make quick work of any squad that can't see them.

That and the number of infantry you described sounds fairly small =o

actually, I had been using the librarians ability, I had two squads of invisible scouts with snipers.. and the orbital bombardment only ever took them down to half health :(
