Death while commanding 1.065

Have no idea how it happend but i have died while comming, literaly! Im just watching a tank battle or base by artyed and then i die.

I think, he means 1.064.

 

The commander is vulnerable to explosions.. Dont be too close to the battlefield when the enemy's got HE Arty

 

yea, noticed this too with some mines

 

Perhaps he died but not the cv? --> bug?

If you are roaming around near the battlefield in Commander Mode, and a mine or HE Arty comes raining down near you, you die.

You die, but not the CV

And I belive its part of the God mode in the Source Engine.
You are invulnerable to direct damage, but Splash damage can still injure you, cause its registered differently than direct damage I think.

I might be wrong, but this seems to be the case in Empires at least.

 

is that what makes the random "the commander is under attack" when he really ist? its just me taking damage from watching the battle?

 

I think its when the commander is hit by anything, random shooting, explosions etc.

Even if the commander is invincible, the game still register if he gets hit, therefore you can hear "The Commander os under attack" when he really isnt :p

 

what about escort and stuff?

Maybe squadleaders are the same as commander?
When a squadleader gets shot, it says "Commander is under attack"?

I'm pretty sure the bogus commander is under attack messages come from APCs taking damage.

 

I doubt it. Same goes for squad leaders. If either was the case, we'd be spammed with "Commander under attack" prompts constantly. Still no idea why it happens on Escort, but I've never heard it on District.

Yes, and they control the minds of all those who don't know about them...

The false message is definately vehicle related, as i have never heard it on district or on the NF side of escort
I think it may be related to this bug. Maybe something weird happens on the server and it thinks some vehicles are comm vehicles

 

Definately splash! Was killed when zoomed in on crossroads in comm, BE was using HE arty and.....next thing I know I'm spawning. Very strange indeed.

My guess (Krenzo only knows what this bug is about) is that when you play on normal emp maps commander vehicles are the first vehicles that are in the game. Sound "commander under attack" is played when the first vehicle is being attacked.
