Before I played Empires and before it became my favorite game, my main game was halo. So I wanted to bring a more halo-ish feel to Empires for myself by replacing the weapons sounds. And now I give you guys my custom sounds. Remember, if you dont like the weapon/sound pairing I made, you can always rename the sound files to another weapon or you can simply not replace your sounds with my custom sounds of that particular weapon. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LVANEML0 (need to give credit where credit is due) SOUNDS WERENT MADE BY ME THEY WERE MADE BY BUNGIE hope thats out of the way.....
To be honest, the weapon, explossion, missile, reloading and dying sounds suck in empires. IF I compare the sounds and music of Empire to games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, Crysis, Far Cry, Killzone, Fear or any other well known games then Empires makes me puke.
so how do you guys like my halo sounds? (bungie's sounds) i uploaded the halo sound on fpsbanana, but they trashed them!!! i credited bungie for the sounds and everything, put they were still trashed which is why im being kinda cautious when crediting the halo sounds
i hate halo. BUT! Ignoring this fact, I always welcome extra Empires stuff, and thus, I say kudos to you. Granted, this is not one of the plugins i'll download, but keep it up.
Ask yourself, what was the budget for all of those games you mentioned? Then ask yourself, What was the budget used for empires? Then ask yourself, can you do the same or better sounds with the same budget? Then, finally, ask yourself, is it that kind of brain dead posts that makes the community hate you?
well, the ultimate goal for a modification is to look and feel like a commercial game the ultimate goal of a commercial game is to look and feel like "this is about as good as it will ever get the next 10 years" if you don't want to try and produce quality and strive for perfection, then stop making games, mods or... whatever because this is NOT your thing
No, I think that Empires developers are totally capable of providing sound and music thath as the same qaulity of games with comercial qaulity. The entire goal is to make Empires look like it is a comercial qaulity mod. Even if I compare the sound and music in Empires with the sound and music in games like Insurgency, Dystopia, NeoTokyo or Eternal Silence then the sound still sucks.
Yes, the objective is to make empires play, look and sound as good as possible. But you cant expect it to compete with big budget games. When compared with other mods, empires is ok, not the best, but still pretty good.
Thats because they have access to professional sound designers. Record a base sound and then tweak waveforms for a few hours Fight Night Round 3 did that for the punching sound. They took a very oily pig carcass and had an intern punch it. Empires devs cant really afford the time or money for pro sounds.
0_o ive checked the download.... i accidently uploaded my custom death sounds (not halo) but im too lazy to change it, so just delete them if you want and ive also realized that "die5.wav" should be a taunt lol
I've played tonnes of mods with great sound, a young guy i know managed to find my own mod a great set of sounds for free. It's not difficult, but it requires persistance.
I'd prefer the devs focus on gameplay and balance rather than art and sound. I don't play Empire's for the artistic style. I play it because of the unique gameplay (RTS/FPS hybrid).
I hate halo, infact I wrote a whole article on why halo is overrated and posted it on top of a AntiDrug poster referencing Halo at me school last year.
If I say that Empires sound sucks compared to other Mods I never said that the sound of other mods were good. The whole point is not that the sound in Empires sucks compared to other mods. The point is that Empires sounds and music in general sucks. Either way they make no sence, they don't fit the weapons or they aren't realistic. Stop the whole "SCREW & FUCK REALISM!!! /RAGE RAGE" Because the sounds in Empires aren't realistic doesn't essentialy mean that they are good. This mod is supposed to look like a high-qaulity, good-polished and balanced game.
