The idea is to add a researchable "commander ability" that will work together with scouts. Once researched, the commander would have to charge up the ability which could take maybe 30 sec (during which no research can be done) and cost like 75 res. Once charged up the commander could target an area, BUT only if a scout is there to direct the strike. So if a scout is in the area, the ability is charged up, and the radar is functional ( built and not sabbed) the commander could use this ability onto the area. Once he does a 60 sec timer will start counting down the enemy team will get a warning that an Orbital bombardment is about to hit them ( giving them the locatin aswell) During those 60 seconds the scout has to stay in this area the whole time to "direct" the strike. If he is killed, or if the radar is put out of functional state, the strike will be canceled. So the enemy team has to find the scout or take out all enemy radars before the 60 second timer runs out. The Orbital bombardment could do something like: Killing all enemy infrantery in the area ( regardless of cover ), Removing ALL plates of armor from vechiles in the area and destroy all vechiles who do not have any armor on one side, Taking all buildings health down to half ( If they are sabbed they would be completely destroyed. This might be to powerful thou). This ability could be countered by any class by killing the scout or taking out the adar, but the scout would have to be the specialised class to both carry out the strike, and counter it. So what you think?
Seems like too much of a hassle to use. 30 squad points gren arty ftw imo. And seriously, 60 seconds? 5 engies could build a second base somewhere during that time.
The comm would probably just recycle his base and build it elsewhere, lol Comm abilities are a thing that's being looked into, but no word on anything real yet
I'd love the ability to paradrop. You click a location and people can spawn in the sky for 30 seconds, once the thirty seconds is up they fall down to earth in parachutes or drop pods or some shit like that.
Just recyce his base? You make it sound like its something comms do all the time on empires. A base is worth a whole lot of res, not to mention that most bases are built around ref point, which would be lost aswell in this case. And rebuilding a base takes time, res and people. The scout would be able to cause havoc and dissorder behind enemie lines easier if this was implemented, and would make it much more important to defend yourself against them.
a base is about 3 heavies, if not less pretty much expendable late game refineries, however are worth more
that type of orbital strike is totally useless, 60 seconds is just too much... I think it should be arranged in other way: enemy gets warning like: "Enemy fleet is preparing for orbital bombardment" and commander to order it requires enemy units/buildings spotted, and scout to aim it. And IMO it should work like this: commander gives for one scout artillery order on spotted unit/building and scout calls bombardment with binoculars, Orbiting ships fire salvo and reload cannons, which takes time, when its done, scout can call it again, until fleet got no ammo left ( no time limit, just ammo)
AFAIK there are no spaceships owned by either side, and if any side does, it's like our space shuttles and rockets. It should be artillery bombardments, if at all.
