Does this trailer entice anyone else? End of the world scenarios always fascinate me, and the movie's mysteriousness appeals to my curiosity. http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/ Stuff like the girl exploding behind the sheet and the scene in the subway get me wondering. I guess it's either going to be really awesome or really disappointing. What I know so far: -There's a big monster (or something). -There are guys in hazmat suits. -New York gets owned. Anyone else have anything to add to the list?
For some reason this reminds me of The Blair Witch Project. Also it looked like someone was mutating into something half-way through.
great trailer... and I probably would have put it down to another godzilla flick if it wasn't for that awesome hazmat scene on that apple page note the three scratches on the statue of liberty, like a claw...
So it's not enough that some giant monster is destroying the city, but it has to be carrying a deadly disease too?
Yeah, but I was thinking about those 3 claw marks on the Statue of Liberty on that page where you can select the quality of the trailer.
Exactly what I was thinking. This film looks horrible. Kinda like they mashed Godzilla, RE4, and the Blair Witch Project together and rolled it in a generic NYC-gets-owned-post-apocalyptic setting, with a light flavoring of Bourne-style shaky camera angle just for that hint of lulz. Basically, it'll bomb.
Sorry for killing it for you guys but I too am not pleased with what Abrams has done so far. Ooops: Statue of Liberty Size I personally never been to NY to see this statue let alone stand in it but from proper resources I found out that Ghost Busters did a better job at showing you what size Miss. Liberty's head should be. Ghost Busters makes the art direction in this film look like noob status. And the monster? Bah he's not even going to make it look anything near the original design shown here. As for Abrams, meh I'm no fan especially since he kinda killed the Star Trek movie franchise by bringing Kirk back yet again!
So, it's Cthulhu going on a rampage in meh hometown? Oh & that Statue of Liberty head kinda looks like something you would see in Bioshock (graphics & texture wise) .:p
I don't think it's suppose to be the next Citizen Kane. I don't expect anything of any artistic merit to come out of hollywood these days. I go to see movies like this to watch people explode and NYC get owned, nothing more.
I was gonna say something about the Statue of Liberty thing too, but I have no idea how big it actually is.
