I want to setup to change my name in a autoexec.cfg file. To something different from my steam name, is that possible?

Afaik, it isn't, because your name will reset on mapchange, whereas autoexec only executes on game start.

Make your own .cfg, and when the map starts, run the .cfg.

    command is exec namechange.cfg

Possibly have it run this in the user.cfg or the key binds cfg?

I think one of the binds configs must be executed when you pick a class, so that could work.

Due to spamming issues, servers automatically kick or ban if people change their name too many times in a given time period.

Basically get that plugin and put it in your addons folder in the Empires directory.
