    give lights mk1 a 2 slot mg
give lights mk2 a 1 slot mg (so basically mk2 trades an extra main weapon slot for a smaller mg)

give meds a 1 slot mg
give heavies a 1 slot mg

why? to make heavier tanks more niche tanks, who cannot defend as well against grenadiers

combined with a grenadier rebalance this could make grenadiers a way to suppress tanks or promote some anti infantry support in the form of lights mk1 or apc's to complement tanks

I suppose by 'lights' you mean both light tanks and AFVs?

Oddly enough I would support this. It makes sense and from a gameplay point of view it would work out as well.

The heavier 2 slot MG weapons could very well replace the cannon on some light tanks.

LTs (not AFVs) with HEMG/DUMG/.50cal i can see this making total sense from a gameplay point of view ... oh cmon :pathetic:

use fucking std.mg. its still accurate and lets you kill the infantrists you couldnt run over.

Actually I'd be more concerned about AFVs as DU/HE are far better against lights than AFVs.

I was rather thinking about the idea that they are smaller and lighter armored, but for something like HE that's irrelevant, and the lighter armor will die rapidly to it.

It's not the holy grail, but it would still love to see it ingame.

My old suggestion to this topic:
(remove MKII, remove MG Slot from heavy)
    http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=10490

What I don't like from your suggestion:
MK1 are already for free (no research required) cheap and effective. They don't need a buff.
MK2 are making medium tanks useless. So why we have 3 tank models when only 2 of them are used.
And because I want to bring back medium tank to game, I suggested to only remove the mg slot from heavies and don't change the mediums.

Good idea in principle, but I have to agree SIP's is better.

Bump, because blizzerd took it home this time. The apc should be the only vehicle that uses heavy machine guns and to make the Lt and mk2's useful, they could both complement eachother when on has a DU and the other has a UML or homing or guided launcher. Because this game is about teamwork, UNION!!!! ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH!!!!

As it stands only the APC can use the HMGs, its the only one with 3 slots. Additionally, its the only vehicle that uses Grenades.

The MKII is ment to be an upgrade, not an alternative choice. by making the MKI and the MKII "Equal", it defeats the purpose of an upgrade.

I dislike this suggestion for that reason.

(I also believe that the MKII is important, because it allows cheap vehicle production that benefits beyond engine and armor in later game, removal could prove deconstructive to development)
