It happen with the BE's and the NF's scout rifle

when i try the alt fire, i see the glasses coming neer my right eye, but i only see a blue disk...
it's like if a texture wasn't removed or something like it...
somebody told me to put my "textures" on "high" but it didn't change anything...

so i used the scout rifle like a pistol and didn't zoom... :D

I am running on medium texture detail, and I can confirm that it works for me.

This sounds like a transparency problem... get a better graphics card

Scout Rifle damage needs to be returned to normal R&D settings. It's rediculously overpowered as it stands.

It isn't. (reload time is big and rifleman with AR can kill a scout without any big problems)

Can anyone make it zoom automatically after reloading?

It does 110 damage and kills in one shot in most situations.

105... and damage decreases as range increases, IIUC.
Saying "get a better graphics card" is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Reminds me of when it was discovered that old graphics card couldn't do the transparency trick needed for cloaking in NS, so cloaked aliens were glaringly obvious rather than hidden.
I have the same problem with my ancient gf3, incidentally. Might be something with DirectX?

I'm giving a solution that would fix the problem. Doesn't sound idiotic to me. If your graphics card can't support transparency, get one that does, or hax the material file to do something else

Oh my god, you have something even earlier than a GeForce 4!? I'm going to die if someone asks how to use the scout rifle with their Riva TNT 2. I wonder when 3dfx is going to release new drivers that work with HL2.

If people start asking to take away the sniper rifles damage over distance then its a huge problem, just played some canyon has about 1/2 life or so, and a guy killed me from a good 300+ meters ( would have taken me a good minute+ to sprint to hit location)

I posted thatone before here (including my settings): http://forums.empiresmod.com/showpost.php?p=60342&postcount=66

I'm running on a GeForce FX 5200 Go and obviously I'm having the same problem.

As it should. Perhaps the damage should dampen so, that at 300 meters you'd need 2 hits for a kill.

I'd also like if it zoomed in automatically after reloading.

I had that videocard before, and i could play HL2 pretty well, although without neat effects.

IIRC its the main reason source games are doing well at all; compatibility with old computers.

And transparency is one of those neat effects, right?

The only way this could be fixed without getting a new video card is if Krenzo put some kind of feature that toggles between a scout rifle model that has the normal scope, or one that has a scope with no blue glass. Just get a new video card, Krenzo and the other devs have more important things to work on. Or maybe you could be clever and find some shader in source that acts like nodraw and stick it into the material file for the blue glass on the scope.
