Amusingly I'm using custom particles and they work even with sv pure turned on. At least partly. None of the custom textures used in them show up, but anything that's made out of stock textures works fine.

So particles work, and custom materials work if sv_pure is off (although I haven't tried using ones which replace exisitng materials) for sure.

 

it'll work. Take that as you like.

 

There are slightly more complicated ways to get custom content working, but it can be done.

 

Please tell me. I miss my awesome custom sounds.

 

If Trickster or harryhoot was too say how to get around sv_pure they would loose the only advantage they have....well besides the other hacks

sv_pure can only be gotten around in special circumstances, and in very limited ways. Custom content can work in some way, but I'm not entirely sure how to do it off the top of my head, though it would take me all of 60 seconds to find out. But I don't care, because scrims use sv_pure, therefore I will play pub Empires at sv_pure, no matter how much I'd love all my custom content.

 

As opposed to me where I use my custom content regardless of whether sv pure is on.
