Is it possible to make the placement of building a little bit easier?
On some maps you need a lot of time with moving and rotating till you find a location (especially for the VF). And worst case is when you have to recycle blocking building to build new ones.

I would suggest that when you place a building the fitting areas are marked.
This could be done with green wire mesh.

Another possibility would be to have a snap in for building. Like for the refineries but not only for one possiton. I think about a snap in when near to fitting area.

I suggest you man up and plan ahead, instead of spamming the shit out of every buildable entity.

Noone else has a problem with this?

Ok, on the most maps it's very easy to place building. But on some maps (like emp_delta especially the middle isle) you have to search where to place the buildings.

So whats the solution? Search an empty server, wait till the desired map is in the map rotation and then practice to place buildings?

Create your own with the ''create server'' is far easier if you want that.

No, the solution is don't play shitty maps where the mapper obviously didn't bother to test out his terrain modifications.

It's already easy, just make the area flat.

But that leads to boring terrain,
on my current map i wanted some places
where you only can place a rax or smaller buildings.
It was very time consuming to do that.

The solution there is to make concrete platforms in the shape of raxes and mark them clearly with yellow and black hazard strips.

When I rotate a building so the corners do not clip into the maps building, I except the buildings pathing to actually move, you know so I can place it. But at this point in time it does not.. How sad?

The placement limitations do actually rotate with buildings to some degree, try placing turrets on the bunker in emp_coast, rotate them and you can place them closer to the edge.

You shouldn't be wasting time trying to fit things in like that though, just rotate it roughly so it points the right way.

Unless you're in Crossroads. My first reaction: "Holy crap, how do people fit a barracks there?"

Not anymore, but there's always that first time. I can't recall any other 'official' maps that require you to rotate a building and wedge it into a narrow space. Maybe streetsoffire, but that one's mostly right angles.

On the other topic, snap-in building locations (perhaps with transparent overlays) might be handy if it allows you to ignore the restrictions of the local terrain, in the event that you want to do really strange things for mapping.

Even the smallest hill makes it impossible to place a building in empires. So a map is either boring cause it's flat or boring cause you can only build on a few designated areas added by the mapper.

There's this huge bottom part of every building that is there so it can be placed on (more) hilly terrain, which does not get used at all atm. I would very much like it if this would get adjusted a little. A small change would aldready make it a lot easier to place buildings on a lot more places while not suffering from 2 meters of buildings sticking out somewhere.

Coffeeburrito looked at this some time ago and it was pretty confusing, the actual building placement validation is done by another function that pulled off some really weird stuff. The preview was more robust and could be placed on more places, but it just played the "building placed" sound and nothing else. I'll ask him if he knows what the exact issue was.

Er, I don't have to rotate raxes on crossroads, never have done.
