Some people like auto spot some people hate it. I hate it... but, what if we combine the engy cam with an existing building? What if we create a new base model for each major building base that has 4 cameras on each corner.(What I mean by base is the concrete foundation under each building.) The engineer walks up the the building he wants to put his camera on and when he plops one down like normal a 4 camera foundation model shows up around the building. He would then build at one of the cameras and there you go. Of course it will have higher health and slightly longer range, but it should take up a camera slot for the engy. hmm... perhaps if I draw a crappy picture I can get my point across better. edit: lol so I left out the ramp in the second pic I drew... ohh well. also looks like both barax have the same foundation?
build points on buildings would be kinda cool. but you can place your cam like 1m next to the rax and all is fine, so rather fix real features ...
ya you can... but why not make it part of the building for a range boost and not being destroyed unless the building is/or you change class.
I think would be cool if (destroyable) cameras could simply be built into (err, onto) buildings when they are initially created. But I bet that's asking too much from a technical perspective and I'm sure the devs already have plans to solve this problem.
What Flasche said. There's no point in wasting time on it when you can place them 1m from the rax anyway.
I would want to be able to attach cameras/ammo to vehicles. (no turrets) Kinda like in 2142. slap one vehicle radar and a infantry radar onto a transport, fly up let the gunners go to work.
If we get walls, we better get fucking turrets. get upgraded turrets and earn 2 turrets build a jeep stick a lvl3ML and a lvl3MG on it ???? PROFIT!
THEN WHY THE FUCK AREN'T WE CURRENTLY USING THEM? This needs to be implemented immediately. Bug fixes be damned, we need OP turrets on vehicles.
why would you want to put a lvl3ml on your jeep? the damage it does to a tank is laughtable, id rather put a 2nd mg onto my jeep ...
It'd make more sense for turrets, as they actually would benefit from the improved LOS. Personally I think commanders should be able to do this, pay extra money to stick turrets/cameras on buildings. You could also do things like have raxes with turrets inside them to prevent spawn camping, or upgrade buildings with team-specific doors or something to keep enemies out, or extra armor/built in bunkers if you have a frontline rax/armory. Would add a lot of strategic options without requring much extra art, just make some generic armor plates more or less and then code some spots on the buildings you could spawn turrets/cameras/radars/armor plates/bunker modules at.
building upgrades generally would be a nice feature from RTS that could make its way into empries - or, well, this genre. i doubt it will happen with emp. it also would be a great way to differently handle chassis-research while letting players individually choose from something similar to the current research tree. it also is something you can spend money on other than tanks ...
someone could whip up some kind of texture change giving the idea of more armor on the barracks for improved health adding a turret would be more problematic i think
