Take your god damn weapon mechanics debates elsewhere. Chris, grow the fuck up and learn to drop a conversation even if you aren't winning. Theres more to life than bitching till people tell you your right. Stop dragging this thread off-topic. I would like to apologize ahead of time to arklansman for 'back-seat moderating.'
Remind me to quote you next time you bring up story in an art thread. Logical mechanics are important to some people, if you don't like it, feel free to put me on ignore again, which I thought you already did.
Chris its a game. Frankly i think that we are lucky to get people like mayama do this in their spare time and bringing up something that applies to real life, not a game is stupid. If you want logical mechanics then go build a shotgun in real life. If you also want logical mechanics in a game then go ahead and model the shotgun yourself.
i agree with both of you lol the guns dont have to make sense in real life but they do have to make logical sense in the world that already exists. now i know this is the wrong thread for it but it works with my general point so im gonna roll with it. in the heavy caliber pistol mayama drew up ( which i think is kickass btw) there is talk of making it a rail gun pistol. this is completely possible but its preformance will have to reflect what we already know about rail guns in game. full sized ones can cause a heavy tank to move backwards rather quickly when fired at a high ROF so that means they have alot of force behind them, so in a hand held verson, that force has to be reflected so it should have some kick too it, but you would also have to balence it agains the nf shotty pistol for gameplay reasons so the kick would have to be smaller allowing more shots to be fired to bring down a target with the same effectiveness as a shotty pistol, so this would mean the rail gun would be weaker causeing less damage to the target. look basically my point is if you are gonna argue mechanics and technical issus keep it in universe, it will add immersion to the game and make everything turn out better
Vietnamese Soldiers used belt fed autoshotguns during the Vietnam war. They had to grease them up good (they got stuck all the time), reloading was a bitch and the shells kept melting. Plus it would look stupid.
Hey Mayama! Nice work on the concepts! Will they be getting modeled any time soon? Also, could you make some thumbnails with different colors?
I mean use the same system the MG42 apparently used, which is presumably to have the belt inside the drum. Rather than rotate the entire drum, rotate the belt inside the drum. Personally I'm not aware of any major issues with drum magazines but then I'm not particularly interested in gun mechanics.
What do you mean with thumbnails in different colored thumpnails? I made it grey so the shape isnt obscured by colors.
no the mg 42 was just belt fed there is no drum about it, you just have belt of bullets and you put it in and it shoots. but that is besides the point. so im still not 100 percent sure why there has to be a shotgun, but i do like this idea for a BE one
yea, but isnt that just a protective casing for a belt rolled up inside? is that what a drum really is? ayway, they look awesome so i say go for it
All these concepts are good, but it's going to be hard to model until the front and top views are drawn. On topic, looks like it would be carried by the engi instead of the scout.
By the way, if this concept doesnt make it into empires, I would totally love to steal it for another mod puuuuhleeeze :D
