Black icons, missing vehicle models

Sometimes when I'm playing all of a sudden the icons to things like the class skills turn into black boxes. At the same time, the bottom half of tanks disappears and is replaced with a big red 'empty' (I think it said empty, I didn't get screens). I play other source mods and this has never happened. This happens about once a day.

 

Make sure to get some screen shots, verify your source sdk base file, defragments and dance to "jingle bell rock"

Sounds like overheating of your graphics card

 

Happened today, but the menus were unaffected this time.

 

What is are your PC specs?

 

-AMD 64 3800
-1 GB RAM
-Radeon x1300

I've been using this PC for about a year now playing other source mods and many graphics intensive games and never had this problem...

I've also been getting the IDirect3DDevice9:resent() error a few times lately but my drivers and directx are up to date and the steam diagnostic says everything is ok.

 

Do you have "-dxlevel 90" (without the quotes) in your launch options?

 

I tried it with 70 and 90 and I still get IDirect3DDevice9:resent(). It mainly happens on level changes. Afterwards when I try to start it it starts in windowed mode and won't go full until I restart my computer.

 

Well you SHOULD be running it windowed. It's much harder for the source engine to totally bring down your computer if you leave it windowed.

It does sound like your graphics card is overheating.

 

I changed my pagedpoolsize to 256mb and now crashes at all now. When I was first going through all the things in the tech support thread I tried 384mb and it made me crash more so I had thought it wouldn't help.
