What about every stat point you get, it can create a MINOR addition to your abilities, such as a tenth of the main upgrades.

EG - "health upgrade" increases your health by 10% (Lets just say so)
so the minor upgrade would help by a tenth and increase your health by %1 (a tenth, as its 10 stat points to a level)

The stats you put on (cant be altered maybe? and wouldnt be class specific) and are effective immedietly. (They can be applied as soon as aquired, and dont require a visit to the barracks)

Just playing around with numbers there, obviously they could be whatever.

    Good ideas?

Would all people get minor upgrades or just the ones with the skill?

Would the extra % be added after you get the base 10% or would you start with 0% and make your way up to the 10%?

I'd guess that it wouldn't apply unless you have the primary skill, in this case the Health Upgrade.

    Btw. dont but [B ] & [/B ] in ur Post Title.. :P

Just the ones with the skill - you win a skill point, so you get to use it. They are minor additions, like building a hero in an RPG, to your stats.

They do not require a pre-resquisite skill to have them.
    For instance,

"Billy is a rifleman. Billy makes 4 dead BE people. Billy then does:
2 minor points in health - 2% raise
1 minor point in accuracy - 1% more accurate
1 minor point in stamina - 1% more stamina.

Billy then kills 6 (Total of 10 - level up) more people so he can have one of the normal stat upgrades:
Billy chooses to have the crouching 50% off stamina thing I cant remember the name of.

He also invests the 6 minor points from those kills into whatever he feels like"

    Does that make more sense?

Basically, you get a minor point for every stat point you have which you can invest into WHATEVER STATS AVAILABLE that arent class related!

And they dont affect the main stat point we have now that you get when you level up.

So, you can use minor stat points and still have the main one.

    See? :P

It's like an RPG, only ranther than getting a skill point and Attributes when you lvl up, you get attribute points AS you level up.
Not a bad idea, I like it.

1 minor, nonchangeable, non-class-specific improvement per point AND 1 normal skill per 10 points is what he is saying.

i personally dont like it simply cause it overcomplicates the system and is going to take a long time to properly balance if/when implemented.

I thought about how it would affect balance, and I dont see how it will:

    I) Both teams have them - so its fair.
II) They are only minor changes in your stats; they could be the difference between life and death by a very small amount.

    Also:
III) I didnt mention this before, but the minor points should auto-apply to any class change you make. (Dont have to re-apply stats when class changed)

    a bit too rpg imo

It would affect balance over time.
    too exadgerate, a level60 vs a level10
This could change balance in a bad way since points do not represent any progress in the game

and yes I know they are minor, but elements that are almost non existent are useless and do not add to the game.

sry the way I say things always sound harsh, its just my opinion

wee need to get more ideas that do not help the winning team to overpower the other,

basically, ideas where the winning team cannot use it as beneficial as the losing team are good to make the game less fps deathmatch, and more rts fun

    i hate games that last 10 - 15 minutes

by balance i mean 1 combo of stats will probably be the best combo and everyone will do that combo, and (as someone said in one of the earlyer forums) a decision that a player will alwase make should be handled by the computer.

Sorry but this just put me in mind of playing DnD.

I like the idea actually, it would let you customise your abilities to suit your playstyle a little better.

Well seeing as accuracy upgrade makes them 100% accurate for all intents and purposes that would actually make them less powerful (wasted stat points).

if you put all of your bonuses onto accuracy, that would make a brenodi AR on escort with 40 points fire in almost a straight line.
