True. If everything is locked some wouldn't want to play. But why, Honestly in war I'm going to fight to the death, not change sides, and go until the end. I'm an honest player some are not. Sometimes someone will switch a team, get into the CV, and drive it into the enemy base. (there base). These players are not honest and I would give up my right to switch teams whenever I want to keep them from ruining a game that takes so long each round. Its a game, they are supposed to be fun. To me it would be more fun if you were able to pick the team as you currently do, If the team is stacked it auto's you onto the lesser team. This only happens on entry to the server or new levels and when your on the team you are there till you win, loose, or quit. With the length of this game, you put a lot of effort into the win. It is lots of fun, but that fun can swirl away after the last hour you spent making sure you would win is torn away in seconds by a donkey. Prevention is a better way to solve the problem than bans. Those who exit the server and come back in to change teams and do harm would be the type you want to ban.
well dont think admins can right now, but that wasnt what I ment I ment, in a game like this you cant just switch someone over midgame, if thats what you mean with auto team balance. If its only for people joining a team, then yes definitly but mid game should be a players decision, you know why, but just to get into it: Maybe the other team was losing and they all left, teams shouldnt be balanced unless someone voluntarily changes, maybe someone refuses to join untill team balances gets into action making the waiting person be able to join the team he wants (lame ******) etc etc im sure you can come up with more
Yeah I don't want to be an engineer and build up their awesome unstoppable defense to be autoed minutes later to the other team to rinse and repeat. I do feel something needs to be implemented such as making the team changes to a minimum per game and the ability to lock the losing team members from switching sides.
I actually do see why i wouldn't want auto balance teams for that same reason of helping building up a base to only be throwen to another, but the fact still remains that when one teams is so technology advance in research and a team is losing it seems to me ppl switch to the better team causeing teams to be unbalaced and the game to end faster becasue of lack of support!:eek:
I think there should be no restrictions to switching teams, its a game for fun, nothing is more worse than not being able to switch a team because you chose one. I havent seen this been misused badly, ofcourse sometimes people switch team because they think their team lost (have seen this a few time, where we eventually even won while some people switched team ) Its human work, so the best way would be a third party server plugin, so some servers can have it and others wont, choice ftw. I wouldnt go on a server where everything is restricted, Im not lame, Im just thinking about the exceptions.
Well, why not simply disallow joining to the larger team? This way, teams may get unbalanced by players leaving but not by players joning the 'wrong' team. And if they choose to wait until the can join a specific team... well, it's their time they are wasting waiting
I'm sure there's already an autobalance. At least, I get autobalanced when I try to join a specific team sometimes.
the sad part is that this is not as easy as countersrike for instance, where rounds are over in two minutes and players can be switched pretty easily. maybe the team with less players gets a resource bonus. of course theres a lot more movement room if/when bots are added
I would like to see this implemented, like most mods, have a basic mp_autoteambalance 1 Which is in the base empires server.cfg ? I am currently using a 3rd party autobalance script and it's a problem because as people mentioned people build up a massive base and then get auto'd which would piss you off. Having something standard and basic like stopping people joining a team if the player difference is greater than 1 or make it variable like "X" would be great. That way if people leave or rage at least other people can't join the team? Sometimes the server can be 3 people difference and it's not even worth trying when they are good players...
You just had to revive this thread, didn't you? It's just a bug, if you get Krenzo to take a good look at it, he'll fix it.
Hmm that sounds ok, but I don't care what team people join I just don't want the teams stacked, hopefully someone can get Krenzo to implement something
There is a SM plugin that lets admins move players from team to team, and an ATB that the author is going to add support for Empires.
