Kind of like in Bad Company 2 where you can click "Yes, put me in a squad", just as an option under "Multiplayer" in options or somewhere else more relevant so new players can easily click it. Maybe call it something else like "Automatically put me in a squad when I join a team" or "Auto-join squad upon team join". (Or something more formatted / shorter.) Pros: ERRYBODI IN SQUADS! Cons: Can't think of any atm.
yes, and squads and in wich one you are should pop up more, and matter more (visually) squads are very fun, but is not really treated as it should be
I can think of a few cons, but proper visual aid should relief those cons. That said, without the visual aids, I don't think this is a good idea, probably the reason why it isn't implemented in the first place (has been discussed in the past).
Players still make a conscious decision. They have to actually click "Put me in a squad" for it to place them in one.
Actually, now you've said that, I'm not entirely sure what the suggestion is. Is this a suggestion to have an option in like...options, which makes you autojoin a squad every time you play? Or are you just asking for a button ingame that assigns you to the first squad with space, much like autoassign?
It's an option that automatically puts you in a squad (with free space) when you join a team. Tick or untick via options > multiplayer. And since it's optional, it's still a conscious decision. I guess players would still be able to notice if they're in a squad or not due to the green uh... triangles?

No, that I disagree with. I don't mind a button in the squad menu which you click to auto-dump you in a squad, but I'm not cool with that. It's automatic, people will forget, and they'll just go out soloing.
That problem is because people say "press C to join a squad," and then don't follow-up with orders or directions.
When joining a team; class selection automatically appears. when class selected; spawnpoint selection automatically appears. when spawn point selected; commander election automatically appears. when comm voted; grief starts... ungriefing EPICMEGAULTIMATE includement: when class selected; squad selection automatically appears... then follows the spawn, and griefvoting.
