    a ______?

Mind you I'm American and don't know all of what kind of politics goes on in Europe.

Infowars fags and Tea party were left out purposefully, as they don't actually resemble political thought whatsoever.

    No moderate?

    You should allow multiple choices.

Although many of my views fall within modern liberalism, I think I'd be more willing to call myself a progressive for accuracy, but I chose liberal given the choices in the poll. I'm not too big on political labels because most of the ones above have been demonized by one school of thought or another, but oh well. Edit: The more I think about it, modern liberal is probably more accurate than progressive, for me.

Also, bravo for leaving out Infowars as a choice, lol... those people have simply replaced one martyr (<insert politician/media figure here>) with another (<insert Alex Jones here>). There's nothing wrong with investigative inquiry to find out if there might be more to something than meets the eye, but they don't take on a proper role in skepticism, and instead appeal to their emotions and paranoia, rather than using reliable evidence-based approaches and uncovering the kinds of conspiracies or malice that do take place in reality.

Same for truthers, which is probably the same group of people.

If you're a progressive then you might have chosen Socialist. When I think of progressivism (again, in America) I think of Single Payer health care, Social Security, things along that line. I kind of meant Liberal just as 'Lefty'.

I'm 'whatever works' without sacrificing freedom for security.

I'm also liberal on social issues.

Yeah they always seem to go back on their promises and lately I think most politicians are simply people who are "good" at debating and have never really learned any other skills ever.

We had a "Its not a big truck ITS a series of tubes" moment the other day. There was a hearing on internet here. One side wanted fibernet and access to 100mb internet for all.
The opposition then goes NOOOOOO! blabla electrical companies spending peoples money blablabla. Then the mindbogglingly declaration that 100mb is not good enough and THEY want fucking 1000mb access for ALL.. for people who have to, eh turn in their taxes and shit over the internet...... the same people who just said they wanted to keep the old copper net which cant get to those speeds.
And no one in the current government had the brain power to point out just how hard they failed.

It was one of the most embarrassing horrible things I have ever seen. It makes me seriously doubt them on every single other issue, when they debate other stuff that I dont really know much about.

Also seeing the lack of ingenuity on the whole oil problem...... its like noone has any sense of physic or real life at all. I would seriously feel better if they put the task to real engineers or even the mythbusters than when I hear of the bumblefuck kindergarten solutions they try.

And all the parties here just seem to change strategies all the fucking time. Oh waaait... we need to save money hmmm lets fuck over the university and old people.....
We have to listen to the whole WE have brainpower that is our most importent asset here as we dont have valuable natural resources.... but they keep taking our funding, firing people and building brand new HUGE fucking buildings..... you fire several hundred people... what about the old fucking buildings ?
I could go on forever about how they fired the old leadership who were actual scientists and replaced them with bank people who has made it "result oriented" and how fucked up that is.

It's from Sen. McCarthy's famous quote. I'll only let you off the hook for not knowing if you're not American.
    ______________________________

I wanted to vote communist, I've just had my thoughts a bit shaken on that recently. I've always argued that there has no been truly communistic nation, that they've all lost their ideal as soon as the revolution ended and the leaders took power as dictators. I just don't know that a practical system can be made from the ideals of the movements, let alone survive the very upheaval needed to install it.

In the mean time, I'll be a progressive, a socialist, and just take baby steps I suppose.

What's especially troubling is that those techniques are not new, they're about 40 fucking years old, and have never been very successful. Rachel Maddow hit the journalistic jackpot on it fairly recently:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjqY64WqC30

It's not for lack of brains that it hasn't ever been solved, there just isnt the correct system to direct those brains to the problem. BP doesn't give a flying shit if oil leaks, so they won't pay for the research and prevention. Then our government fails to regulate it, for various reasons, none of them reasonable, including that they're all being lobbied and bought by these companies.

Did I mention I was on the left?

im pretty socialist to americas standards, but i guess you could call it centrist in europe

also you CAN be more of those at the same time, since a political opinion is not definable in 1 word

for example, i am socialist if it comes to most things, but i believe there still has to be a clear cause and effect in the area of personal wealth

if you work hard, you should have more money
if you dont work, you should be kept alive with government funding, but its not like the government should pay your life

    etc

This poll makes no sense to pretty much every euro, because your US definitions are completely different. Conservative in the UK (current government) isn't nearly the same as what I heard them described as on these forums.

i bet in the US id be a communist and prolly one of the kind that would have been in jail during the the mccarthy era :D

    this is very misleading:
    Socially Liberal but Economically Right-Wing

what does that mean? im tempted to vote that since i think free economy is probably the worst thing that could ever happen to societies - but on the other hand, this sounds too conservative for me to vote it ;)
