Current particles are pretty awesome, but a lot of things are still using pre-OB effects, if they have effects at all. It goes without saying that a more complete particle implemention would do wonders for making the game look more polished. For ease of reading, a list of stuff which is by no means comprehensive: ML turret missile explosions ML turret missile launch particles MG turret tracers MG turret muzzle effects Turret explosions (the above could have different particles depending on the level of the turret for ease of recognition) Tank track dust (not sure about this, I seem to remember that it was tried and caused problems) Tank damage smoke (could have different types of smoke depending on damage, from wispy white smoke when yellow to a fire when flashing/destroyed) Tank explosions (different effects based on engine perhaps?) Tank wreck explosions (would be a nice cheap way to disguise tank wrecks disappearing) Building explosions Building wreck disappearance (again, disguise building wrecks disappearing into thin air) Missile trails Cannon shell trails Infantry weapon muzzle effects Visible bio effects on infantry and tanks Can't think of any more at the moment, point out anything I missed and i'll add it to the list.
I'm sure empty will adore you for creating more work for him. Although between us we have made a few of those already.
I'm pretty busy atm and nobody's been able to code particles. (also the steam update broke the particle editor inside empires thanks valve) So really I need more free time (holidays are coming up) and code support but yeah I wanna get most of these done, especially missile/cannon smoke, they're actually pretty big CPU whores atm and I think I can replace them with cheaper (and nicer) effects.

now that is pretty epic.. i wouldnt mind having laggy particles that do that ^_^... a crap load of missiles with horrible accuracy. reminds me of gundam wing.
Only things not on the list is the pretty controversial stuff like: Radar aura effect for everyone particle effect on buildings, while they are being build up fat rocket launcher smoke mortar smoke glow effect on hidden scouts, when approached with enhanced senses visible squad aura
He can't use 2.31 if he's working on particles that only have code support in steampires. You need to fix that before you can add more particles.
