My sugestion is, the basic fighter which I am going to make as an example is made out of 5 different parts, engine 1, engine 2, wing 1, wing 2 and the rudder each has its hitboxes and health system, but since you will need the hitboxes if the aircraft ws depicted as a whole anyway, the only difference is more coding. so basicly, say your left engine is hit, it is less effiecent and therefore is weaker than the right, so your plane slants left and glide off. Pros Adds realism as if your left engine is destroyed, your plane will spiral Look cool No extra hitboxes needed Cons Coding Balancing Alternatives Make the aircraft a whole

Predator, whether you like it or not, aircraft are coming. As for this suggestion, wait till aircraft are in full tilt beta testing. The resident testing group on the forums will have a month or so with them, at which point things like this will be discussed. Once it goes public, if you don't like the implemented hitbox system, bring it up. From what I have gathered, aircraft themselves are fully planned in respect to the working of the aircraft themselves. The big thing holding them back is lack of models. Hell, in 2.0 testing the BE aircraft, built via a glitch in the VF, were flying mini AFV's!
This sounds more annoying and fun to watch (which if the enemy isnt noobs you wont have time to do) than good, maby damage=decreased speed, but just getting a lucky hit and killing an enemy sounds like a pain to me.
No, that would only be valid if it were still 1000 B.C. What I am trying to say is that this isn't an issue YET. it takes emp_recruit about 10 mins to build an aircraft and 1 min until he spawns at the base again :D
I'm just merely making a suggestion with the aircraft now so that the devs don't have to fool around putting it in later.
i think we actually need them ingame before we make suggestions -- easier to argue the practability and reasnable suggestions
