To Whomever, I suggest a 5th class, and this class will specialise in ambuses and controled traps like c4 that you can set off prehaps mechanic could get that? , like the special forces class in battlefield 2. Or the mechanic gets C4 explosive To play around with and not make new modles,c4 suits mechanic well in my experiance , he can build plus destory and can also attach c4 to vehicles.
There's already mines and sticky bombs. Why add a new class when there is little reason for it? It seems all you want to do is take a little away from the rifleman and a little away from the engineer. I don't really see a reason in doing so.
there's also already C4's lay 8 mines in one place, lay another mine somewhere else, the 8 mines will detonate taking out any structure.
The c4 could be something like the CS C4, in that it takes a while to arm, takes awhile to blow up, but doesnt take a while to blow shit up.
LOL :D since 1.7 is my guess.. You have never heard of ninjas? they are grens who go behind enemey lines and use 9 mines to kill the CV
9-mining isn't quite the same thing, though. The blast, though potent, is extremely small; it pretty much requires improved ammo, it can't be stuck on to any sort of object... He's talking about Battlefield C4, which is essentially the option to tactically rig something to blow the fuck up by remote detonation. I approve. Unfortunately, though, I think the idea has been shot down in the past.
Something like Battlefield C4... actually, more like Gloom Quake 2 C4, where the Commando class would arm it in inventory with a lengthy sound and delay, it would start its timer, Commando would drop it by the alien nest, then get banned for accidentally killing his entire team. It wouldnt be remote detonated, just time detonated, and would show up on the maps of those with the Heightened Senses perk, disarmable by all, but faster with engi, and can cripple a building quickly.
so you want something that can INSTANTLY be set up, does massive damage over a large area, and can be remotely detonated. I almost can't find words to describe how bad this idea is. 1. Remote detonation is EXTREAMLY bad for gameplay because it's a very cheap, irritating tactic that slows down the game and only promotes camping. being able, with no skill at all needed to just sit watching an area and detonate when someone runs through. district/glycen/urban will be removed because of how shit they will become if this was ever implemented. running up to something, chucking C4 and running off detonating is not a skill, nor tactical, nor cool, nor good for gameplay. 2. Setting up is a neccessary part of C4's for so many reasons. for balance, to allow some sort of protection vs it. Jumping out of an APC and chucking on in the barracks is unstoppable and instant death for an entire base. 3. We already have C4's. Just because mines have the name "mines", they're still all purpose explosives. here's an idea, though it kinda faded into the background...
1. Whered you get remote detonation from? 2. Alright, Gloom was horribly unbalanced and made for essentially class-based team deathmatch. Arm it on the field, in the spot. 3. 9Mining is just so tacky.
when you get over the "it's a bug" feeling (I had it too), it's actually one of the most fun things to do in the whole mod. I just wish it could be implemented in a more "built in, legit" way. Also, I just assumed by all the mentions of C4 and Battlefield that it would be remote detonation. My bad
Still, I like the idea of a C4 like thing that takes a while to set up, time detonated, visible to the other team by looking at it or through some kind of futuristic radar thing, and defuseable by the enemy team, especially Naders, especially if they have the Defusal perk. A fur can dream, though...
Yeah, nine mining just isn't quite as satisfying as dropping that little charge, taking to your heels, and watching those flames blossom out...
Where's my claymore mines? If you want to talk about adding it, why not start asking for it as part of a research tree? Claymore mines, AV and AI mines that are less visible or not visible, Cluster bomb rockets ^_^ I think that if you want to do something like this that can be potentially overpowering, put it in a research tree on the upper branches, so taht they aren't available until a base in the game can addequately defend their base against ninjas.
Why not use the goldeneye method? Have mines, but allow them to be set to timed or proximity, also allow the timed mines to be attached to things in a similar method to a SLAM, walk up close and press the button.
Hmmmmm..... Speaking of mines, how's this for an evil idea: After dropping a mine, looking at it and pressing the 'use' key will slowly 'bury' it. (i.e. its height will be decremented by one pixel/second, or whatever) The further down it is buried, the smaller the triggering detection area, but the higher the damage when triggered. If the mine is dropped with a left-click, then the mine will detonate when infantry or a vehicle passes over it. If you right-click to drop it, then only a vehicle will detonate it. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about infantry blowing themselves up and clearing that mine field you laid for tanks. Clearing mines would work the same way: pressing your 'use' key would slowly dig them up. If the 'Mine Detection' skill was chosen, any buried mines within a certain radius would glow.
No way. If this was done, BE would never win escort as long as there are a couple intelligent players on NF
