children of men... damn that is in a league of it's own half baked from dubee... hahaha if anyone added that it would be you. gladiator is awesome matrix 1 but return of the jedi? sure it's ok... but those dumb teddy things just killed it for me.
The Ewoks aren't so bad, they're like little midget Chewbaccas, plus they were a riot to nade in Star Wars: BattleFront 1 & 2 =P
my fav films are: Starwars, a new hope Matrix 1 Dragon heart 1 Kelly's heroes Harry Potter 1 All lord of the Rings Indiana Jones & the last crusades All pirates of the Caribbean + Cut throat island
I surprised to see that no one added Forrest Gump to the list, perfect (or almost perfect) in terms of pacing, humor, drama, and storytelling. The movie is one of, if not, the all time greatest movies made. And so many classic lines (unfortunately it didn't have a line as classic as SoaP but whatever)
300, i herd it was rubbish. People were wanting to see something on par with Gladiator, and so wouldn't recomend it to anyone.
The idea that 300 is racist is ridiculous. The more serious people take that movie, the more I grow to disrespect society.
Ah! You beat me to that joke. Just like video games, movies are getting progressively worse, made for the sheer notion of profit.
I never said I cared, but denying its racist (and all the other hundreds of hollywood movies) by saying we shouldnt take it seriously is plain ignorance.
300 was racist? I thought it was a damn good film. American Beauty is one film I would add to my 5 star list. Usual Suspects is awesome too, although may be a little slow for some. Lastly, Seven. (Are you sensing a pattern?)
Both the movie and graphic novel it was based off of are supposed to be like the dramatic oral tales from ancient Greece. It's highly embellished and, like many Greek stories, portrays the other side in an unflattering light. I think that associating the film with any current day issues is projecting our societal issues on to something that is supposed to be emulating the values and societal issues of an ancient culture. 300 is, after all, much closer to ancient Greek storytelling than Troy was.
I wasnt discussing whether or not its an accurate depiction, but you won't see a movie like this coming out about jews or blacks. Its racist, degrading stereotypes and the persians are portrayed as sub-human. So many hollywood movies have racist stereotypes no matter in what context most people probably won't even notice it anymore, completely indoctrinated by the stereotypes hollywood makes. I don't care about all the controversy around 300 or politics, I was just giving an example of a reason such a movie would become a blockbuster (yay lets make a movie and offend god knows how many millions of persians all over the globe! And to top it off we'll release it on their new years too, haha this is genius.), even though I like the fact Sparta are the 'free' people :p Such a movie wouldve never come out in the 70's, where Iran was a westernized country and highly respected, I'm not going to claim its because of current events such a movie was considered for production, but it definitly is convenient for them, maybe a bit too much. And it doesn't matter whether you can take a movie as a movie and resume your life afterwards, mass media should always be taken seriously. "The more serious people take that movie, the more I grow to disrespect society." So its alright to be ignorant about whats happening around you, but when people dissect something that might possibly influence millions, if not billions humans, all over the globe, you disrespect them? So by that you also disrespect the fact that a few million people are actually offended by this movie, they should shut the fuck up too because you enjoyed some fantasy film? I'm sorry but thats ethically wrong IMO. As for myself I enjoyed watching it (especially the special effects) and I'm not even trying to raise a discussion as I couldn't care less, it was my dark humor when I replied "more racist?" and nothing more.
lol; oh, dizzyone. If only! two words: Mel Gibson. Remember, kids, if you're famous, it doesn't matter if you're a bastard, as long as you apologize. With the rare exception of Paris Hilton. And she didn't even stay in the same jail as everyday people.
