Seems interesting, these 3D printers. I heard Xerox is gonna release a 3D printer for personal use for like 3-5k US dollars. The "ink" would be expensive though. Like a few hundred US dollars per liter or something. Would be cool to make 3D models of Empires tanks :S. It doesn't seem that new, probably at least a few years old. google "MakerBot CupCake CNC" it is about 960 EURO, u have to assemble it on your own and the granulate material is cheap. 3d plotters are around since about 8 years
Once this stuff really gets going it will be awesome. Right now its mostly just for rapid prototyping. I saw something like this which basically "printed" something like fast dry cement and it was huge. Basically it can "print" an entire structurally sound 2 story building once the foundations are laid for it. Obviously its gonna be a pretty bleak place to live but amazing still.
