I think i understand that, basically some sort of system that doesn't put on m_valley when only four people are playing and selects something like crossroads instead ? Good idea imo. hmmm, i don't like this. Just let servers have their own votemap system if they want. It sucks enough to lose let alone to then be excluded from the nextmap vote. The winning team will already have had enough of a reward in winning.
last I checked, the JPL server was never fixed with that linux map rotation bug. For a while it was only cycling through the 3 maps. Not sure if it is still though. (maps were slaughtered, mvalley, and canyon I think)
there are a few smaller servers with classic only, but they arent really populated. most ppl (have to!) play on the big servers (nachos, the main public server and sometimes a clan server). but its true, most ppl hate conquest map and they only play them because they are on the mapcycle.
I never understood what was wonderful about some custom maps. Most are either ridiculously open or ridiculously straight. I don't like most of them. my favorite maps will always be slaughtered and mvalley I think, because there is a definite objective to both those maps in terms of where to be and what to do.
Infantry maps get old fast because every map except money is mostly infantry combat anyway. Especially glycen, its just got too many tickets and the paper tanks are painful to drive. Midbridge is a fun custom map, allthough its almost emp_money2 if someone gets the middle res for a while. Edit: That would be great
some of the best maps are custom maps. just think of midbridge, king, the new shadows, etc. i like custom maps more, because im bored with the official ones. its always the same. i play empires for more than a year now (with breakes) and the official map pool is still the same. it's high time for updates/additions. there are some great custom maps, which could be official (after some polishing and optimizing).
I have done that once. It was hilarious. The tank turret attaches UNDER the CV. So its an upside down tank turret comming out of the CV wheels. If you turn the tank turret to the back someone approaching the CV cannot see it, then the CV driver turns the turret and the poor ninja faces double barrel. Haven't got it to fire though.
gezor: Drag is a dev. When he gets bored, he makes fun pointless code changes to his own personal empires :p
