3 Menu's in one Screen Its one of the most anoying things in empires i think to have like 123123 menu's so why not put them together like that one: Pros: Less menu's equals more fun Cons: ? tell me one ? EDIT: Sorry for the low quality picture but the forum is not picture-size friendly
This menu would be a bad idea when just switching classes in the barracks. Commander voting only takes place at the start of the game, so having this menu later would be pointless. Names above classes would be alot better.
ohh that's quite nice. I don't like the way you've combined the load out section (chosing your class) with everything else. Have this (minus the loadout parts) at the very start of joining an empires server and it will be great. Otherwise, half way through a game i don't mind the individual menus.
names? k Yes comm voting should be only at start. Hey what about: Game starts: Spawn map where the loadout section is? But i think that suggestion clearly shows that we dont need so many menu's
Just seperate the voteing to its own menu,. Other wise I support this Idea. Also you shold make 3 or 4 diffrent configurations to try and find one that flows best.
I would also download it, because I think something like this would be really. Please when you're making this make it in components with separate files for each little segment, that way, if the devs want it, they can cut and paste what they like and it's more flexible. Not sure if you're already doing this, but I thought I should bring it up. Could the screen be situation specific? If the match has started and you team has a commander, can the commander screen disappear making room for more or extended info? When you choose your skills or weapons can the first two columns be replaced with the picture of those skills and a little run down (first column would be general skills and second column class skills perhaps?) The same could happen with weapons, with a breakdown of each available weapon, strengths and weaknesses etc. This may be taking the idea into waters too deep though.
Replace commander vote section with a list of the Commander and Squad Leaders names, so you can tell from a glance the chain of command? For the weapon and skill suggestion, do you mean something like, when you click on the little picture of your rifle, the first two columns are replaced with a list of available rifles, and when you click one of those the list is again replaced with the info columns? I like the layout so far.
I like what you're doing and think you're on the right track. You're doing more for this mod in one month than I have in 6 ~ but then again, I am quite lazy
I don't like it. Empires has a mood of a War in future. There are some cool loading screenies and some stories and descriptions that sum into a climate. Your GUI removes a big part of it. Yes, GUI could be improoved. No, I don't like Your project. Hint: tabs (like in Firefox or in almost any window with settings properties in any OS).
Why yes, that is exactly what I mean. I think the vehicle customization screen proves how unnecessary tabs are.
Ok... let me sum up (if i forget someone its not on purpose) I do that in Adobe Illustrator so I can seperate everything as i wish. I like the idea, that the comm part disappears after voting and makes room for more info and same for the weapon and skill idea. The story of each map is on the screen where you can choose your faction as you can see i never touched that part of the user interface. I thought about tabs while i doing that stuff. Tabs are almost the same as it is now because new players oversight the squad menu easily and forget to buy their free skill. If you can see all at the same time you automatically see that a skill unlocks at the moment you join a squad. Edit: Yes you often die because it takes so long to create a vec, same with skill and weapon selection if you change your class.
At first, i REALLY liked it, I thought it was perfect. then i read this: and thought: he's damn right. we should still get rid of ALL dropdown menus, put the skills (both types) on the same page as the weapon loadout page, but still give things more space.
While I agree that this image is somewhat more cartooney in details than I would expect from Empires, I would argue that its layout is solid. How exactly does such a layout detract from atmosphere?
ahh putfile you BETRAYED ME better? http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/2791/menugggad1.jpg putfile sux meat lollys thats not a pretty version like it would be, just a demo of the layout/idea
