1. every time I join emp_district402 I have to download emp_district402.ain. 2. I think it was v1.02 of Empires, it ran great, nearly no vehicle lag. Now, since 3 days, I have to play in the lowerst graphical details but it is still like a diashow. net_graph 3 says in & out are good, just the fps... And the really strange thing: after 5 minutes it might be okay. I noticed this on district to be extrem, but it seems, that escort get worse every day and will be as unplayable as district soon. This is very strange, the first days after installing 1.05 every maps worked fine and fast, but now... It don't really depend on the server I play on nor the map and I know, I'm not the only one. And most strange of all: badland (a map most player hate because of lags) is still the same as before. I wonder when this map begins to be a slightshow...
As far as I can say: no virus. I'm updating the virus-signature for my program 4 times a day, other Source-games run still smoothly (execpt SourceForts, but that was from the beginning).
Yes, you're right of course. But ever since 1.05 was released, I have to download emp_badlands.ain and emp_district402.ain whenever either one of these maps come up on any server. Even if I stay on the same server for the full map rotation, it will download those files again. This didn't happen in 1.04 with Badlands.
yeah, I have FPS problems... normally, the game will run about 45FPS, and for no noticeable reason, it'll lag up to about 15FPS or lower for a few seconds It'll correct itself, but only for a monent or two. It's annoying.
Well, with the release of Episode One Valve improved the Source-Engine: shorter Loding times, better performance etc. So, there might be two reasons for the increase fps: the improved Source-Engine and the new compiled clientregistry.blob. I think both did their part to this, because deleting the clientregistry.blob was already kind of a miracledrug (?) before. Whatever problem I had with Steam, deleting this file solved that by 80% of all cases.
yup. That simple. I'm pretty suprised you dind't know that. If you ever had a problem with Steam and went to steampowered.com to call up the support or to read the FAQ or board, you'll get very often in contact with that solution.
